Tax Manager

Tax Manager

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Manager to lead tax compliance and advisory services for a diverse portfolio of corporate, partnership, and individual clients. The Tax Manager will oversee preparation and review of federal and state tax returns, provide tax planning and research, supervise and mentor tax staff, and ensure timely, accurate filings while maintaining strong client relationships and compliance with current tax laws.

Key Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end tax compliance for C-Corporations, S-Corporations, partnerships, and high-net-worth individual clients, including preparation and review of federal and state tax returns.
Review and sign off on tax returns and tax workpapers, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable tax laws and firm standards.
Provide technical tax research and planning for transactions, entity structuring, tax credits, and state and local tax issues; communicate practical recommendations to clients and internal teams.
Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff; delegate assignments, review work, provide feedback, and support professional growth.
Coordinate and manage tax engagement workflow, timelines, and deliverables to meet client deadlines and firm quality standards.
Respond to client inquiries and coordinate with external advisors and regulatory authorities during audits, notices, or tax examinations.
Implement process improvements and best practices to enhance efficiency, review procedures, and quality control across the tax group.
Collaborate with partners and managers to identify business development opportunities and support client proposals and presentations.

Qualifications

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
Proven experience as a Tax Manager in public accounting or equivalent role, with demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing returns for S-Corporations, C-Corporations, partnerships, and individual (1040) tax returns (nice-to-have: prior Tax Supervisor experience).
Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax laws, accounting for income taxes, and tax planning strategies.
Excellent review skills with a demonstrated ability to ensure high-quality, accurate deliverables and adherence to deadlines.
Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field; Masters in Taxation or CPA equivalent coursework preferred.
Proficiency with tax research tools (e.g., RIA, CCH, Bloomberg Tax), tax compliance software, and advanced Excel skills.
Strong communication and client service skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously and lead teams through busy season with effective project management and prioritization.
