JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Informatics RN serves as the clinical and technical subject-matter expert responsible for the design, build, implementation, optimization, maintenance, and support of the organization's electronic health record (EHR) and associated clinical technologies. This position collaborates closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, ancillary departments, operational leaders, and Information Systems staff to translate clinical workflows into effective technology solutions that improve patient care, safety, quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
The Clinical Informatics RN is responsible for the configuration and ongoing support of the organization's Oracle Health (Cerner) Millennium platform and related clinical applications. This role provides leadership in workflow analysis, solution design, system optimization, end-user training, upgrade support, go-live activities, and clinical transformation initiatives. The position serves as a liaison between clinical operations and Information Systems, ensuring that EHR solutions align with organizational goals, evidence-based practice, and Oracle Health model system recommendations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
EHR Design, Build, and Optimization
- Design, configure, implement, and maintain Oracle Health (Cerner Millennium) clinical applications in accordance with organizational standards and Oracle Health model recommendations.

- Build and maintain EHR rules, automation, and decision support tools that reduce manual processes and support best practices.
- Evaluate requested changes and recommend solutions that align with enterprise standards and Oracle Health model system design principles.
- Clinical Workflow Analysis
- Partner with physicians, nurses, ancillary departments, and operational leaders to assess workflow needs and identify improvement opportunities.
- Analyze existing workflows and recommend system enhancements that improve clinical operations and user experience.
- Translate clinical requirements into technical specifications and EHR build requirements.
- Facilitate meetings with clinical stakeholders to gather requirements, document workflows, and validate proposed solutions.
- Ensure EHR design decisions support standardized workflows and organizational objectives.
- Implementation and Project Support
- Participate in EHR implementations, optimization initiatives, and clinical technology projects.
- Develop project plans, testing plans, validation scripts, and implementation documentation.
- Coordinate system testing activities, including unit testing, integrated testing, workflow validation, and user acceptance testing.
- Support project go-lives through planning, deployment, and post-implementation stabilization activities.
- Provide at-the-elbow support to clinicians during go-live events and major system changes.
- Monitor implementation outcomes and recommend optimization opportunities following deployment.
- Upgrade and Change Management
- Participate in annual Oracle Health Millennium upgrades and ongoing software releases.
- Review release documentation and assess operational impact to clinical workflows.
- Test new functionality and coordinate validation activities with clinical departments.
- Develop communication, training, and support plans related to upgrades and system enhancements.
- Identify opportunities to leverage new Oracle Health functionality to improve operations and patient care.
- Clinical Technology Support
- Serve as an escalation resource for complex clinical application issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve EHR-related incidents, workflow concerns, and system defects.
- Collaborate with Oracle Health support teams and internal Information Systems staff to resolve issues.
Support integrated clinical technologies including:

- Oracle Health AI Agent
- Clinical documentation technologies
- Clinical decision support tools
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
- Education and Training
- Develop and deliver training programs for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and ancillary staff.
- Create training materials, workflow guides, and educational documentation.
- Provide one-on-one coaching and support for end users.
- Assist departments in adopting new workflows and technology solutions.
- Serve as a clinical informatics resource and mentor for clinicians and operational leaders.
- Governance and Collaboration
- Participate in clinical informatics governance, change control, and optimization committees.
- Maintain strong relationships with clinical and operational stakeholders.
- Promote standardization and adherence to established clinical and technical practices.
- Advocate for solutions that balance clinical needs, operational efficiency, patient safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Information Systems leadership to develop strategic plans for clinical technology initiatives.
- Compliance and Quality
- Ensure EHR configurations comply with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
- Support initiatives related to patient safety, quality improvement, and clinical documentation integrity.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Participate in audits, assessments, and regulatory readiness activities as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS — Education, Experience & License
- Current Wyoming Registered Nurse Licensure, without restrictions, is required.
- Nursing degree, required.
- A minimum of two years’ acute care nursing experience is required.

- Expert knowledge of Oracle Health (Cerner Millennium) clinical applications and architecture.
- Strong understanding of inpatient clinical workflows and healthcare operations.
- Advanced knowledge of PowerPlans, PowerForms, Orders, IView, DynDoc, MPages, Scheduling, and Clinical Decision Support.
- Working knowledge of Event Set Hierarchy and Core Code Builder.
- Experience supporting Dragon Medical One and Oracle Health AI solutions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
