Bookkeeper (Construction Industry)

Role Overview

DM Premier Group, an established construction firm, is seeking a strategic and hands-on Bookkeeper. As a support person to all financial operations, ensuring project accuracy and helping to maintain the overall financial health of the company. The ideal candidate has a "boots-on-the-ground" understanding of construction accounting and is a QuickBooks expert capable of managing complex project-based finances.

<Requirements>

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, supporting accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, and assisting with project-related budget tracking. This role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, communication skills, and the ability to work closely with project managers, vendors, contractors, and company leadership.

Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Bookkeeping

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
Enter bills, invoices, receipts, payments, and journal entries into the accounting system.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, vendor statements, and company accounts.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Maintain organized digital and physical accounting records.

Accounts Payable & Invoice Processing

Receive, review, and process vendor, subcontractor, and consultant invoices.
Verify invoices for accuracy, proper documentation, approvals, and project coding.
Coordinate with project managers to confirm work completed and invoice approval.
Prepare payment runs and ensure payments are processed on time.
Track outstanding invoices and follow up when approvals or documentation are missing.

Project & Construction Accounting Support

Assign expenses to the correct project, cost code, vendor, or category.
Assist with tracking project budgets, committed costs, paid amounts, and remaining balances.
Support project managers with financial information related to each project.
Help maintain organized records for construction draws, reimbursements, change orders, and vendor contracts.
Prepare reports for ownership and management.

Vendor & Administrative Support

Maintain vendor records, W-9s, insurance documents, payment information, and contact details.
Communicate professionally with vendors, subcontractors, consultants, and internal staff.
Help resolve invoice discrepancies, missing documents, or payment questions.
Support general office and administrative accounting tasks as needed.

Qualifications

Proven bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in real estate, construction, property management, or development.
Strong knowledge of accounts payable, reconciliations, invoice processing, and expense tracking.
3+ years experience with QuickBooks, accounting software, or similar platforms.
Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.
Strong communication and follow-up skills.
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Ability to work independently while coordinating with a team.

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
