Full Job Description

Position Overview

An established heavy civil construction contractor is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations for a water or wastewater treatment facility project in Duluth, Georgia.

The Superintendent will be responsible for daily site leadership, workforce coordination, subcontractor management, safety, scheduling, quality control, and progress tracking. The successful candidate will have previous experience working on water or wastewater treatment plant construction and be comfortable managing projects from mobilization through completion.

This is an immediate hiring need for a qualified field leader who can maintain project momentum while ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the daily field operations of heavy civil and water/wastewater construction projects.
Direct field personnel, subcontractors, and craft labor to meet project schedules and quality expectations.
Coordinate site activities with project managers, engineers, owners, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
Develop, maintain, and update short-term and overall project schedules.
Monitor construction progress and identify potential schedule, safety, quality, or cost risks.
Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, permits, and applicable construction standards.
Conduct daily planning meetings and communicate work priorities to field teams.
Coordinate subcontractors, deliveries, equipment, materials, and site logistics.
Order materials and arrange required testing and inspections.
Review project drawings and specifications to plan upcoming work.
Maintain a safe and organized jobsite.
Enforce company safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
Monitor project costs, productivity, manpower, and material usage.
Prepare daily reports, employee time records, progress documentation, and field updates.
Communicate project milestones, delays, and field conditions to project leadership and clients.
Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and developing field employees.
Verify completed work and support project closeout, punch-list, and turnover activities.

Qualifications

2+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, preferably on heavy civil, municipal, or infrastructure projects.
Direct exposure to water or wastewater treatment plant construction.
Demonstrated experience supervising craft labor and subcontractors.
Strong understanding of project drawings, specifications, construction sequencing, and field documentation.
Experience managing schedules, manpower, materials, inspections, and site logistics.
Knowledge of construction safety requirements and regulatory standards.
Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to identify field risks and implement practical corrective actions.
Ability to maintain project quality while meeting schedule and budget requirements.
Willingness and ability to work full time at the project site in Duluth, Georgia.

Preferred Experience

Construction of water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, process piping, concrete structures, or related municipal infrastructure.
Experience coordinating mechanical, electrical, piping, structural, and civil scopes.
Experience working with public-sector owners, consulting engineers, and municipal inspectors.
Familiarity with project scheduling and construction management software.
