Full Job Description

THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services is looking for a Clerical Assistant 2 who enjoys structured work and supporting staff who help the community. At the Cambria County Assistance Office, you will help manage applications, records and client communication that keep essential programs running well. This role provides steady responsibilities that let you build strong clerical skills. Bring your dedication and attention to detail to a team that values dependable support.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides clerical support that helps benefit processing stay accurate, organized and timely. It is cross trained to assist with cash, medical and food stamp transactions based on caseworker instructions and established policies. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

Application Processing: Handle mail in, walk in and electronic applications, including Compass imports and file clearances
Records Management: Purge and combine reserve records, manage death files and organize closed file documents
Front Desk Operations: Greet clients, direct them to workers, manage the main phone console and process daily drop off mail
Mailroom Handling: Upload postage, process incoming and outgoing mail and faxes and look up returned mail in CIS
EBT Card Work: Create EBT cards, complete logs and obtain required signatures for lost or stolen cards
Specialty Tasks: Complete MIPAA requests, process checks and perform general Clerical Assistant 2 duties as assigned

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch.
Travel and overtime as needed.
Work Conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Johnstown, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting salary of $36, 831 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Graduation from high school; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Cambria County. If no eligible candidates who live within Cambria County apply for this position candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
