Saheli, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering South Asian and Arab women and their families to lead safe, healthy, and empowered lives. Our programs focus on domestic and sexual violence advocacy, economic empowerment, mental health, legal and immigration support, housing assistance, and access to public benefits.

Position Summary

The Housing Coordinator is responsible for providing housing advocacy, case management, and resource coordination to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. The Housing Coordinator assists clients in obtaining safe, stable, and affordable housing while helping them overcome barriers to housing stability. This position works closely with shelters, landlords, housing authorities, legal service providers, and community partners to ensure clients have access to appropriate housing resources.

Key ResponsibilitiesHousing Advocacy & Case Management

Conduct housing assessments and develop individualized housing stability plans.
Assist clients with emergency shelter placement, transitional housing, and permanent housing options.
Support clients in applying for affordable housing, public housing, Section 8, and other housing assistance programs.
Advocate with landlords, housing authorities, shelters, and property management companies on behalf of clients.
Assist clients with housing search, lease applications, move-in coordination, and housing retention.
Provide safety planning related to housing needs.

Financial & Housing Assistance

Coordinate rental assistance, security deposits, utility assistance, and emergency housing funds.
Prepare documentation required for housing assistance programs and grant-funded services.
Monitor housing-related financial assistance to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Maintain accurate records of housing assistance provided.

Client Support

Provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and survivor-centered services.
Connect clients to public benefits, legal assistance, employment resources, childcare, healthcare, and other supportive services.
Maintain regular follow-up with clients to monitor housing stability and address emerging needs.
Provide referrals to internal and external community resources.

Collaboration & Community Partnerships

Build and maintain relationships with landlords, housing providers, shelters, and community organizations.
Participate in local housing coalitions and community meetings.
Collaborate with Saheli advocates, attorneys, economic empowerment staff, and mental health counselors to provide comprehensive client support.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential client records in accordance with agency policies.
Complete case notes, reports, and grant documentation within required timelines.
Assist with data collection for program evaluation and grant reporting.
Ensure compliance with confidentiality standards and applicable state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum 2 years of experience in housing advocacy, case management, social services, or domestic violence services preferred.
Knowledge of affordable housing programs, housing resources, landlord-tenant laws, and public benefits.
Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or underserved populations is Preffered
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management databases.
Fluency in a South Asian, Middle Eastern, or other community language is strongly preferred.
