Job Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Dental Receptionist, where you'll be the friendly first point of contact for patients and visitors alike. This vital role combines exceptional customer service with efficient administrative support to ensure smooth clinic operations. You will manage patient scheduling, verify insurance details, handle medical and dental documentation, and coordinate with clinical staff to deliver outstanding patient care experiences. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help foster a welcoming environment while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.

Duties

Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out procedures using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
Schedule appointments accurately, manage cancellations, and coordinate follow-up visits to optimize clinic flow.
Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing using systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or EMR/EHR platforms such as eClinicalWorks or Hospital systems.
Review and update patient records ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
Collect payments, perform medical collections when necessary, and document all financial transactions meticulously.
Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing information on services, appointment availability, and insurance inquiries while practicing excellent phone etiquette.
Maintain organized filing of medical records, insurance documents, and other administrative files in accordance with health information management standards.

Skills

Proven experience in medical or dental office administration with familiarity in clinic workflows and patient intake procedures.
Strong knowledge of health insurance verification processes, Medicare guidelines, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing practices.
Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) management systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms.
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation review and report generation.
Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
Familiarity with dental terminology and clinical confidentiality policies ensures accurate documentation review and compliance.
Strong organizational skills for managing appointment schedules, medical records filing, and office management tasks efficiently.
