Civil Litigation Paralegal

Location: Houston, Texas (On-Site Galleria Area)

About the Firm

The Weaver Law Firm represents clients throughout Texas in business disputes, real estate litigation, and construction law. Recognized for our courtroom experience and commitment to achieving results, we maintain a professional, collegial environment with modern office facilities and a dedicated support staff. We are currently seeking a Civil Litigation Paralegal with a minimum of 8+ years of civil litigation experience to partner with our growing legal team in Houston. Applications for this position are being reviewed on a rolling basis.

The Opportunity

This role is designed for a seasoned litigation professional capable of managing complex case mechanics from inception through trial. Working closely with our litigation attorneys, you will serve as a foundational anchor for our caseload, ensuring meticulous organization, strategic discovery management, and seamless trial preparation. The ideal candidate is proactive, deeply familiar with Texas court procedures, and ready to take ownership of vital litigation support functions.

Key Responsibilities

Case Management: Oversee the lifecycle of a robust civil litigation caseload focusing on commercial, real estate, and construction disputes.
Document Drafting: Draft initial pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, subpoenas, and routine correspondence for attorney review.
Discovery: Manage document productions, conduct comprehensive document reviews, draft privilege logs, and organize deposition exhibits.
Trial Preparation: Prepare trial binders, exhibit lists, and witness files; coordinate logistics for trial, mediations, and depositions; attend trial to assist lead counsel as needed.
Filings & Calendaring: Manage electronic filings (e-filing) in Texas state and federal courts; maintain the master litigation calendar to ensure all statutory and court deadlines are strictly met.
Client & Expert Liaison: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, expert witnesses, court reporters, and opposing counsel to facilitate efficient case progression.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of substantive civil litigation experience as a paralegal. Specific experience in business, real estate, or construction litigation is highly preferred.
Credentials: Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program or a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Procedural Expertise: Mastery of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure (TRCP) and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP), as well as local rules for courts in Harris County and surrounding areas.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with mainstream law practice management software, advanced MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), and e-filing platforms.
Professional Attributes: Exceptional organizational skills, laser-sharp attention to detail, and the ability to work both in teams and independently in a fast-paced environment.
