Full Job Description

Choate USA is seeking an experienced Commercial Landscape Purchasing agent to oversee purchasing and material procurement for commercial landscape and irrigation construction projects. This position is responsible for sourcing materials, negotiating pricing, managing vendor relationships, coordinating deliveries, and ensuring projects receive the right materials on schedule and within budget.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial landscape and irrigation construction and possess an established network of supplier relationships within the landscape industry. This individual should understand the materials, equipment, and sequencing required to successfully deliver commercial projects and be able to leverage existing vendor relationships to secure quality materials, competitive pricing, and dependable service.

This position works closely with Estimating, Project Management, Superintendents, and vendors to support project execution across multiple Texas markets.

Responsibilities

Purchase landscape, drainage, and related construction materials for commercial projects.
Solicit competitive pricing from vendors and negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times.
Build and maintain strong relationships with nurseries, hardscape suppliers, equipment vendors, and other commercial landscape suppliers.
Review project plans, specifications, plant schedules, and material schedules to ensure accurate procurement.
Coordinate material deliveries to meet project schedules.
Work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to anticipate material needs and resolve supply issues before they impact production.
Identify value engineering opportunities while maintaining project specifications and quality standards.
Assist with inventory management and monitor commonly stocked materials.
Continuously evaluate suppliers to improve pricing, quality, service, and availability.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of purchasing or procurement experience within the commercial landscape and irrigation industry.
Previous field experience in commercial landscape or irrigation construction is strongly preferred.
Experience reading commercial construction plans, specifications, irrigation plans, and plant schedules.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary based on experience. 60k – 75k depending on experience.
