Shakedown Street is a smoked meats and comfort food concept located inside Stowe Cider on Mountain Road in Stowe, Vermont. We serve guests in our taproom and event space, operate an offsite food truck, and provide catering for a wide range of events throughout the region.

Position Summary

Shakedown Street is seeking an experienced and motivated Line Cook to join our culinary team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality menu items according to established recipes and standards while maintaining efficiency, consistency, and food safety in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

The ideal candidate is a dependable team player who takes pride in their craft, communicates effectively, and thrives during service. This position plays a critical role in delivering exceptional guest experiences and supporting the continued growth of our food program.

Essential Responsibilities

Set up, stock, and sanitize workstations before service.
Follow prep lists and daily production schedules created by the culinary leadership team.
Prepare menu items according to standardized recipes and quality standards.
Execute lunch, dinner, catering, and special event service, both on-site and off-premise.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards throughout the kitchen.
Plate menu items accurately and consistently according to established specifications.
Notify the Kitchen Manager of anticipated product shortages, quality concerns, or inventory needs.
Operate food preparation equipment safely and according to manufacturer guidelines.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout each shift.
Adhere to all food safety, storage, and handling procedures.
Return and properly store kitchen tools, equipment, and utensils after use.
Assist with kitchen cleaning and closing duties, including sanitizing cooking surfaces and equipment.
Perform inventory counts, food storage logs, and related documentation as assigned.
Work collaboratively with fellow kitchen team members to ensure smooth and efficient service.
Support additional kitchen responsibilities as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Sous Chef.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
One to two years of line cook or relevant kitchen experience preferred.
ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety certification preferred.
Knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation methods, and safe food handling practices.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work efficiently and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to producing high-quality food and delivering an exceptional guest experience.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours per shift).
Ability to frequently bend, reach, lift, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work safely around hot surfaces, kitchen equipment, and varying temperatures.

Schedule Requirements

Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
Flexible schedule preferred.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
