Full Job Description

We are a family owned and operated Heavy Civil / Sitework Contractor that specializes in Earthwork, Underground Utilities work, Heavy Highway construction, Paving, Land Development and Infrastructure Civil Engineering projects. Ryan Inc. has been in business since 1884. We have three offices in South Florida located in Stuart, Deerfield Beach and Miami.

We are seeking a self-motivated and experienced civil estimator to work in our Stuart office.

The Estimator needs to be detail oriented and experienced with commercial/public and private aspects of civil related work. They will be responsible for accurate and timely preparation of estimates for jobs to be bid and should have knowledge of construction means and methods, costs and engineering and industry principles. This position plays a critical role in the pre-construction phase of our projects. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure that all estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with project goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects (roads, bridges, utilities, grading, etc.).
Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other relevant project documents to develop detailed take-offs.
Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams to obtain competitive pricing for materials, labor, and equipment.
Evaluate project risks and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
Work with project management to develop project schedules and budgets.
Assist in preparing and submitting bid proposals for new projects.
Stay updated on industry trends, construction costs, and new technologies.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Project Estimator with a focus on heavy civil construction projects.
Strong understanding of construction processes, labor, materials, and equipment costs.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, AgTek, Bluebeam, Excel, Word, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teams and clients.
A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not necessary
