Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Permitting and Estimating Assistant to join our dynamic construction team. This vital role supports the permitting process, project estimation, and cost management activities essential for successful project execution. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong technical skills, construction industry knowledge, and excellent communication abilities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop expertise in construction estimating and permitting procedures while contributing to the efficient delivery of commercial construction projects.

Duties

Assist in preparing and submitting permit applications by interpreting technical drawings, reviewing blueprints, and ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Collaborate with project managers and clients to gather necessary documentation for permits and approvals.
Utilize estimating software to develop accurate project estimates, including material costs, labor, and equipment needs.
Review construction drawings and blueprints to determine material requirements, scope of work, and cost estimates.
Manage project budgets by tracking costs using construction management software and spreadsheets; identify potential cost overruns early.
Support negotiation efforts with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to secure favorable pricing and terms.
Coordinate with field teams to gather on-site data for accurate estimations and ensure alignment between plans and actual conditions.
Maintain detailed records of permits, estimates, contracts, change orders, and project correspondence for easy access and audit readiness.
Assist in managing project timelines by tracking permit approvals, estimating task durations, and updating schedules accordingly.

Qualifications

Proven experience in construction estimating or project management within the commercial construction industry.
Strong proficiency with estimating software, along with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and construction documents accurately.
Familiarity with construction management software tools used for cost control and project tracking.
Excellent negotiation skills to facilitate pricing discussions with vendors and subcontractors.
Solid understanding of permits processes, building codes, contracts, and construction site safety protocols.
Effective communication skills for client interactions, team collaboration, and documentation purposes.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines.
