Code Compliance Officer

Position Title: Code Compliance Officer

Department: Operations/Facilities Administration

Reports To: Executive Director or Site Administrator

Position Summary

The Code Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the facility operates in

compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, agency, health, safety, fire, building,

licensing, and program regulations. The officer monitors compliance standards,

conducts audits and inspections, oversees corrective action plans, and works

collaboratively with management to mitigate risk and maintain regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance

 Monitor compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations such as

NYCDOHMH and NYCDOB in accordance in day care guidelines (Article 47).

 Ensure adherence to licensing requirements, agency policies, and industry

standards.

 Maintain knowledge of regulatory updates and communicate changes to

management and staff including NYCDOHMH and NYCDOE.

 Conduct routine compliance reviews and risk assessments

Inspections and Audits

 Perform regular facility inspections to identify compliance deficiencies.

 Maintain inspection logs and corrective action documentation.

 Prepare the facility for regulatory visits, audits, and surveys.

 Coordinate responses to regulatory findings and inspection reports.

Corrective Action Plan (CAP) Management

 Develop and implement corrective action plans to address identified deficiencies.

 Monitor progress and completion of CAP requirements.

 Maintain documentation demonstrating corrective actions and compliance efforts.

 Report CAP status updates to leadership and regulatory agencies as required.

Policy and Procedure Oversight

 Review and update policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.

 Recommend operational improvements to strengthen compliance efforts.

 Assist in the development and implementation of compliance-related protocols.

Training and Education

 Provide compliance training for employees and supervisors.

 Educate staff regarding regulatory requirements, safety standards, and

documentation practices.

 Track training completion and maintain records.

Documentation and Reporting

 Maintain accurate compliance records, reports, permits, certifications, and

licenses.

 Prepare compliance reports for leadership and regulatory bodies.

 Investigate and document incidents, complaints, and potential violations.

 Ensure timely reporting of required information to governing agencies.

Risk Management

 Identify compliance risks and recommend corrective solutions.

 Collaborate with department managers to resolve compliance concerns.

 Monitor ongoing compliance performance indicators and trends.

Qualifications

Education

 Bachelor’s degree in public administration, Business Administration, Healthcare

Administration, Facilities Management, or related field preferred.

 Relevant compliance certifications are desirable.

Experience

 Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in compliance, regulatory oversight, quality

assurance, facility management, healthcare, social services, or a related field.

 Experience developing and managing corrective action plans preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements.

 Excellent organizational and documentation skills.

 Ability to conduct audits and inspections.

 Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

 Effective verbal and written communication skills.

 Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and compliance tracking systems.

 Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements

 Ability to traverse facilities to conduct inspections.

 Ability to review documents, reports, and electronic records.

 Occasional lifting of records or materials up to 20 pounds.

Performance Expectations

 Maintain regulatory compliance standards.

 Ensure timely completion of corrective action plans.

 Reduce compliance deficiencies and regulatory findings.

 Support a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
