ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound (BGCSPS) is a non-profit organization that CHANGES LIVES through quality programs and guidance in a safe, affordable, and fun environment. BGCSPS’s mission is to inspire all young people, especially those who need us most, empowering them to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible members of their community. We have been providing a safe, fun, and positive environment at our sites with trained and dedicated professional staff for more than 80 years.
Members are involved in age-appropriate activities based upon our three priority outcomes of Academic Success, Character Development, and Healthy Lifestyles.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Regional Manager is a fast-paced position responsible for the supervision and development of Branch Managers, who direct a team of full time and part time support staff, for an assigned geographic territory. The primary focus is creating a safe, supportive environment for our youth by conceptualizing and developing comprehensive, measurable outcome-driven programs and service deliveries. Responsible for the final interviewing and hiring of the Branch Manager team, managing all aspects of their orientation training; ensuring completion of all reports, deliverables, building relationships, identifying knowledge gaps for professional advancement, and overall performance to the goals and metrics of the BGCSPS programs and services.
The Regional Manager is tasked with curriculum development, execution of training staff, and evaluation and outcome measurement of the three priority outcomes for the BGCSPS: Academic Success, Character Development, and Healthy Lifestyles.
FUNCTION/TASKS
DIRECT SERVICES TO BRANCH MANAGERS
- Provide leadership to Branch Managers in assigned regions through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring of individualized development plans.
- Ensure the overall business plan for assigned Branch Managers reflects high standards and succession planning, coupled with consistent mentoring and people development.
- Develop strategic alliances with community leaders and local officials to increase visibility of Clubs programs, services, and activities, and maintain good public relations.
- Evaluate effectiveness of sites programs and services, devise evaluation methodology, and compile evaluative data for creating program assessment and status reports as requested.
SUPERVISION AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT
- Responsible for recruiting, selecting, supervising, coaching, counseling, and disciplining Branch Managers in assigned regions.
- Lead by example ensuring on-going communication, completing intensive area training, and providing professional and constructive feedback to help improve performance and management skills.
- Communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing performance; review compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
ADMINISTRATION
- Develop, maintain, and regularly update strategic approaches to staff training, team building, staff development, and staff recognition as they relate to direct reports.
- Lead operations meetings as directed; attend Regional Manager Meetings facilitated by Director of Operations; participate in Sr. Management meetings.
- Present regional territory reports at Board Meetings as directed.
- In conjunction with Director of Operations, oversees site facilities in the assigned region. Ensure that equipment and furnishings are set up in a manner that is safe and healthy for employees.
- Conceptualize innovative training programs that develop staff skills and knowledge towards fostering high morale, accountability, engagement, and team building.
- Communicate, implement, and enforce organization operational policies and procedures; monitor same for compliance.
PRIORITY OUTCOME DEVELOPMENT, TRAINING, AND IMPLEMENTATION
- Conceptualize, implement, and evaluate programs associated within the three priority outcomes.
- Promote learning opportunities by facilitating workshops to include annual staff meetings, BGCA training programs and conferences, and in-house local training programs and workshops.
- Develop curriculum, produce training manuals, implement training, and solicit participant feedback.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 21 years of age; BA from an accredited college or university with a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience working in a Boys & Girls Club; or an equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.
- Verified skills in program development and assessment; strong leadership, analytical and methodical approach to problems, excellent judge of character; highly motivated and results driven.
- Verified direct supervisory skills in a multi-facility organization to effectively lead, motivate and manage staff, monitor performance and mediate conflicts.
- Efficient under pressure with multiple time constraints and changing deadlines; able to work in an environment with shifting priorities and frequent interruptions.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite; (Word, Excel, Outlook) Experience in scheduling and maintaining multiple calendars in Microsoft Outlook.
- Demonstrated presentation skills; experience conducting training, workshops and seminars to various audiences.
- Well versed in coaching strategies and program evaluation techniques.
- Previous work experience within a nonprofit, or grant funded programs, and board of directors.
- Ability to effectively communicate with youth, parents, staff, volunteers and community partners while displaying tact, maturity and flexibility.
- Work ethic to be responsible, accountable, provide follow up, complete tasks, and meet deadlines in a professional manner with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Must pass a national criminal background check.
- Driving:
- Must have a reliable personal vehicle for business related travel.
- Valid WA State driver’s license with acceptable 3 year MVR - driving record.
- Verification of Tier 2 Insurance standards.
- Willingness to travel within a designated region for community partnership visits and business meetings.
- Ability to successfully complete van driving; drug screen testing, training & requirements.
