Parts Manager
$30–$35/hr Base + 5% Monthly Parts GP Commission — No Ceiling
Guaranteed 3-Day Weekend Every Week 7 Bays Expanding to 10–12 Techs
Are you tired of working six days a week, running a tight parts department, and watching your commission stay flat no matter how well the department actually performs? We are an independent, high-volume, 7-bay shop looking for a Parts Manager who is ready to own their department, and get paid directly for what it produces.
We offer what most shops never will: a guaranteed 4×10 schedule. Four days on. Three days off. Every single week. Not when it is slow, not occasionally, every week, because we built our operation around it intentionally. The people who perform at the highest level deserve a life outside the building.
Kitsap Auto Outlet has been independently owned and operated for 18 years. We retail 100+ vehicles a month, run an active recon pipeline, and process both retail repair orders and internal reconditioning work through a 6-technician, 7-bay shop. The parts department touches every single job. It is not a support function; it is a production driver. When it runs fast and accurately, the shop runs fast. When it does not, every bay in the building feels it.
What You’ll Earn
We do not believe in capping earning potential. We pay a strong hourly baseline to protect your income, paired with a commission structure built to reward a parts department that performs. Here is what the math actually looks like at this shop:
COMPENSATION ELEMENT DETAIL
Base Wage $30–$35/hr — based entirely on your experience and results
Commission 5% of total parts department monthly Gross Profit
Expansion earning potential $105,000–$115,000+/yr as shop scales to 10–12 techs
Schedule 4 days on. 3 days off. Every week.
Ceiling There is none
The expansion is not hypothetical. A two-year physical buildout takes this shop to 10–12 technicians. As parts volume grows, your commission grows with it, automatically, no renegotiation required. The Parts Manager who builds this department well today will be earning significantly more in two years without changing jobs.
The Opportunity
6 technicians. 7 bays. Over 100 vehicles a month moving through recon. Retail customer repair orders and internal reconditioning running simultaneously, every day. The parts department is the engine that keeps both pipelines moving. When it runs tight, the shop runs fast. When it does not, every tech in the building feels it.
You will manage one direct report from Day 1. The department is yours. The standard is yours. The results are yours.
You are walking into a shop with the volume and the infrastructure, what it needs is the right person running it. That upside is yours to capture, and your commission reflects it directly.
The Role
You own everything that moves through the parts department. Receiving, tagging, issuing, returning, reconciling, all of it runs through you and your team. You are accountable for inventory accuracy in the DMS, parts GP performance, and the speed at which technicians get what they need to complete jobs.
- Own the department, everything in, everything out, fully documented. Sign-out protocol enforced without exception. Technicians do not enter.
- Source aggressively across OEM, aftermarket, salvage, and specialty vendors, compare pricing, confirm ETAs, catch invoice errors before they reach accounting.
- Maintain DMS inventory accuracy through correct PO entry, immediate returns processing, and cost tracking on every RO.
- Own parts GP, markup discipline, core charge tracking, and credit follow-through on every open return. This is what your commission is built on.
- Complete monthly vendor statement reconciliation, flag discrepancies before they compound.
- Manage and develop one direct report, set the standard and hold it.
- Support estimating for retail and internal ROs, parts sourced, priced, and delivered to the advisor or Internal Production Manager with accuracy and speed.
You are not just filling orders. You are running a department that either accelerates production or slows it down. That accountability is yours. So is the upside.
Who We’re Looking For
We look for five things: Attitude. Effort. Teamwork. Innovation. Results. For this role, you need all five and a track record that proves it without prompting.
- You have run a parts department at a dealership or high-volume independent shop.
- You know your vendors by name and your relationships get you the part faster than the next shop.
- You can quote your parts GP margin from your last role without looking it up.
- You catch vendor invoice errors as a matter of habit, not luck.
- You have worked in an automotive DMS, you enter POs accurately and run inventory reports without being shown how.
- You hold your team to a process and you do not cut corners on the paper trail, because you know what happens when you do.
- You communicate directly, you do not need to be managed, and you do not wait to be told what needs fixing.
This is not a training role. We are not developing anyone into this position. If you are not already running a parts department at a high level, this is not the right fit and we will both know it quickly.
What You Won’t Find Here
- Six-day work weeks.
- Manufacturer scorecards that measure things outside your control.
- Technicians walking in and out of your department whenever they feel like it.
- Vendor invoices that go unchecked and credits that never get followed up.
- Decisions that require three layers of approval to make.
- Average performance tolerated because replacing people is uncomfortable.
What You Will Find
- A guaranteed 4×10 schedule every week, no exceptions, built into how we run the operation.
- 6 technicians, 7 bays, and an expansion to 10–12 techs already in motion, you are getting in before the volume doubles.
- One direct report already on the floor, a team to lead from Day 1, not a department to run alone.
- A seat at the table, when something in your department needs to change, you bring it directly to ownership and it gets addressed. No management chain between a problem and a solution.
- AutoSoft DMS and AutoVitals already in place, the systems are built, performance is the opportunity.
- Health insurance.
- Paid time off and paid holidays that grow with your tenure.
- 401(k).
About Kitsap Auto Outlet
Independent. Port Orchard-based. Founded in 2008. 40+ employees, three buildings, 18 years in the Kitsap market. We are not a franchise, which means we move fast, make decisions without layers of approval, and hold ourselves to standards that do not require a manufacturer’s scorecard to define.
We operate with urgency, precision, and a commitment to doing things right. The Parts Manager we hire will be a core part of building a department, and a business, that everyone here is proud of. That is not a line. It is how we have operated for 18 years.
Apply through Indeed or email us directly at [email protected]. In your message, tell us three things: the largest parts operation you have run, what your parts GP margin was when you left, and the single most significant process improvement you made while you were there. Candidates who cannot answer those questions are not ready for this role.
We are prepared to show proof of every claim in this ad. Come prepared to do the same.
