Full Job Description

The Assistant Director supports the Center Director in the daily operations of the childcare center, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children, families, and staff. This role provides leadership to teachers, helps maintain compliance with all licensing regulations, oversees administrative functions, and serves as the Director in their absence.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Staff Support

Assist with the supervision, coaching, and evaluation of teaching staff.
Help recruit, onboard, and train new employees.
Promote a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
Ensure staff maintain required certifications and complete ongoing professional development.
Step into classrooms as needed to maintain appropriate teacher-to-child ratios.

Center Operations

Support the Director in the day-to-day management of the center.
Assist with scheduling staff and classroom coverage.
Monitor classroom quality and ensure curriculum is implemented effectively.
Maintain accurate attendance, enrollment, and staff records.
Help manage classroom supplies and facility needs.

Licensing & Compliance

Ensure compliance with all state licensing regulations and company policies.
Maintain required documentation and children's records.
Assist with licensing inspections, audits, and accreditation requirements.
Ensure health, safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures are consistently followed.

Family Relations

Build strong relationships with families through professional communication.
Address parent questions and concerns promptly and respectfully.
Assist with enrollment tours, orientations, and family engagement activities.
Support customer service initiatives to promote family satisfaction and retention.

Financial & Administrative Support

Assist with enrollment management and classroom capacity planning.
Support tuition collection procedures and documentation.
Help monitor labor hours to maintain budget goals.
Prepare reports and administrative paperwork as assigned.

Child Development

Promote a safe, caring, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Support teachers in implementing curriculum and positive behavior guidance.
Ensure children's physical, emotional, and educational needs are being met.

Director Coverage

Assume responsibility for the operation of the center during the Director's absence.
Make operational decisions consistent with company policies and licensing requirements.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
Florida Child Care CDA Credential (or ability to obtain within required timeframe).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a licensed childcare setting.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge of Florida childcare licensing regulations.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and childcare management software.
Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
