Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced bookkeeper for a very part-time (approximately 5 hours per week to start) 1099 contractor position.

This role is ideal for:

An experienced bookkeeper looking for supplemental income
A stay-at-home parent with bookkeeping experience
A seasoned accounting professional wanting flexible, low-hour work
Someone building their own bookkeeping practice who wants steady overflow work

There is potential for increased hours over time, with the possibility of transitioning to employee (W-2) status as the company grows.

Responsibilities

Categorize and reconcile bank and credit card accounts
Perform monthly reconciliations
Maintain organized documentation
Follow established internal workflows and procedures
Communicate professionally regarding transaction questions

Experience

Proven experience working as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role within corporate or non-profit organizations.
Extensive knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, general ledger management, and account reconciliation techniques.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Hands-on experience with multiple accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, or similar tools.
Strong understanding of debits & credits, journal entries, bank reconciliation processes, and financial report writing.
Prior experience supporting payroll functions and budgeting activities is advantageous.
Reliable, deadline-oriented, and high attention to detail
Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Preferred:

Payroll experience
Construction/job costing experience
Experience working with multiple clients

Work Schedule

Approximately 5 hours per week to start
Flexible schedule
Primarily remote (local candidates preferred for occasional in-person meetings if needed)
