Full Job Description

We are seeking a dependable, experienced, and caring Chef to join our assisted living team. This position is an important part of creating a welcoming, home-like environment for our residents. We are looking for someone who takes pride in preparing fresh, delicious, well-presented meals and understands that mealtime is one of the highlights of our residents’ day.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts according to the facility menu and schedule.
Prepare meals that are flavorful, appealing, and appropriate for a senior living environment.
Follow established menus, recipes, portion sizes, and meal schedules.
Accommodate special diets, allergies, texture-modified diets, and other dietary requirements as directed.
Ensure meals are prepared and served at the proper temperature and on time.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen at all times.
Follow proper food handling, storage, labeling, rotation, and sanitation procedures.
Monitor food inventory and communicate items that need to be ordered.
Minimize food waste while maintaining appropriate portions and quality.
Keep refrigerators, freezers, pantry areas, cooking equipment, counters, and food preparation areas clean and organized.
Assist with receiving and properly storing food and kitchen supplies.
Work cooperatively with caregivers, management, and other team members to ensure residents receive excellent service.
Be attentive to resident preferences and communicate concerns regarding meals or dietary needs to management.
Complete routine kitchen cleaning and closing responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Previous cooking or chef experience required; assisted living, senior living, healthcare, or similar experience preferred.
Current Food Managers License
Knowledge of safe food handling and kitchen sanitation practices.
Ability to prepare meals for a group while maintaining consistency and quality.
Ability to follow menus, recipes, dietary instructions, and portion requirements.
Strong organization and time-management skills.
Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
Positive attitude and ability to communicate professionally with residents, families, and staff.
Must be able to stand for extended periods and safely perform normal kitchen duties.
Must meet all applicable facility and state employment requirements.
