Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and versatile PRN Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical/Surgical care to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing services across various medical and surgical units, ensuring comprehensive patient care in accordance with established protocols and standards. This position offers flexible scheduling to accommodate staffing needs while maintaining a focus on delivering exceptional patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess a broad skill set, including experience with EMR/EHR systems, medical documentation, and a strong foundation in acute and chronic care management.

Key responsibilities include performing thorough patient assessments, administering medications and injections, managing IV infusions, and supporting diagnostic procedures such as catheterization and suturing. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, ensure patient safety, and facilitate smooth discharge processes. Your expertise in diverse clinical settings—ranging from hospital medicine to outpatient clinics—will contribute significantly to our mission of providing compassionate, efficient healthcare.

Shifts

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
Administer medications via various routes, including injections and IV infusions, adhering strictly to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
Support diagnostic procedures such as catheterization, suturing, phlebotomy, and specimen collection/processing.
Manage complex cases involving acute pain management, trauma medicine, infectious disease care, or post-operative recovery.
Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate medical documentation and medical records management.
Assist with patient triage in urgent care or emergency room settings to prioritize care based on severity.
Provide specialized care for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring hospice or palliative services.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards while delivering safe patient care.
Support discharge planning and coordinate with case management teams for post-acute or long-term care needs.
Demonstrate proficiency in advanced clinical skills such as ventilator management, ostomy care, or trauma response in Level I or Level II trauma centers.

Experience

Valid RN license with current state registration; prior experience in medical-surgical units is essential.
ACLS and BLS- American Heart Association
Proven clinical experience working within hospital medicine environments or outpatient clinics.
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
Experience managing patients requiring complex interventions like dialysis, telemetry monitoring, or cardiac catheterization.
Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate documentation and billing processes.
Background working with diverse populations including seniors in assisted living or nursing home settings; experience in memory care or behavioral health is advantageous.
Critical care experience preferred—particularly ICU or trauma center exposure—and familiarity with acute response procedures.
Skilled in medical documentation practices aligned with NCQA standards and infection control protocols.
Ability to adapt quickly across multiple clinical environments such as urgent care centers or ambulatory surgery centers.
Strong understanding of physiology principles related to patient assessment and emergency response procedures.
