Full Job Description

Job purpose

The Finance Director performs the essential duties and primary functions of an Accounting Director, including overseeing the operations of Patient Account Services and Business Services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, balancing monthly bank statements, preparing monthly financial reports, managing accounts payable, performing daily balance system and , if requested, performing duties relating to Board of Director meetings

Duties and responsibilities

Financial Management

Oversee the annual finance planning/budgeting process and prepare the annual operating budget.
Prepare monthly profit/loss, balance sheet and cash flow financial statements for presentation to the Board of Directors.
Manage income and expenses for special events.
Coordinate the annual audit and 990 preparation with an independent CPA.
Oversee payroll, payroll liabilities and benefits. Create and maintain excellent financial controls, policies and procedures.
Ensure efficient functioning and documentation for all financial systems in including receipts, disbursements, billing, bookkeeping, budgeting and accounting. Supervise the Business Services Manager
Prepare budgets and financial reports for foundation grants and track reporting of foundation project/program budgets and expenditures.
Provide reporting as needed to the board of directors and staff leadership team.
Prepare and pay employer payroll taxes and quarterly taxes in a timely manner
Support the Patient Account Services Manager with admissions and billing operations as needed.
Support Business Services Manager with Human Resources activities as needed.
Other assigned and related administrative and operational duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Non-profit Operations

Maintain office equipment and property.
Ensure policies and procedures are in compliance with applicable local, federal and state regulations.
Serve as a member of the leadership team, with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
Fully participate in organizational activities including staff and board meetings.
Serve as an ambassador for the Center in the community.

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree or higher in accounting, finance or related field.
Thorough understanding of accounting principles
Effectively communicate in a polite and professional manner with patients, volunteers, and staff
Excellent organizational skills
Maintain a static sitting position for up to one hour, with periodic changes, for up to 9 hours a day
Competent computer skills
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point, and outlook)
Experienced with QuickBooks software
Understanding of Medical Billing preferred
Knowledge and proficiency of the English language
Three favorable references from past employers or professional associates

Working conditions

Contacts are with patients, families, co-workers, visitors, physicians, customer service representatives, financial agencies, supervisors, administrative staff, Board of Directors, and other Center personnel.

Physical requirements

This job does not require tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissues.
