Full Job Description

Primary Therapist – LPC/LCSW

Monarch Mental Health | Arvada, Colorado
Full-Time | In-Person
Salary: $65,000–$80,000 per year

About the Role

Monarch Mental Health is seeking a Primary Therapist to provide individual and group therapy to adults with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). Our programs serve individuals with complex behavioral health needs, including clients transitioning from state hospital settings and individuals involved in competency and restoration services.

This position is well suited for a clinician who is comfortable working with a complex client population and can balance direct clinical care with timely, high-quality documentation and treatment planning.

Key Responsibilities

Provide individual therapy and facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups.
Conduct biopsychosocial and other clinical assessments.
Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and update plans based on client progress.
Utilize evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches, including CBT, DBT, and other appropriate modalities.
Assess and respond to behavioral health crises, including suicidal or homicidal ideation, self-harm risk, acute psychiatric symptoms, and behavioral escalation.
Complete suicide risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis documentation when appropriate.
Maintain timely and accurate progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and other required clinical documentation.
Ensure documentation supports medical necessity and applicable regulatory and payer requirements.
Participate in multidisciplinary treatment-team meetings and communicate clinical recommendations, progress, and risk concerns.
Collaborate with psychiatry, case management, peer specialists, behavioral health staff, and other members of the treatment team.
Coordinate with families, support systems, and outside providers when clinically appropriate.
Support discharge and aftercare planning.
Maintain professional boundaries, client confidentiality, and ethical standards of clinical practice.

Qualifications

Required:

Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related behavioral health field.
Current Colorado behavioral health credential authorizing clinical practice.
Strong clinical assessment, treatment-planning, documentation, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to maintain sound clinical judgment and professionalism during crisis situations.

Preferred:

Active Colorado Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential.
Experience working with severe and persistent mental illness.
Experience in residential, community mental health, inpatient, forensic, competency/restoration, or another high-acuity behavioral health setting.
Experience providing both individual and group therapy.
Experience with crisis intervention, suicide-risk assessment, and de-escalation.
Familiarity with CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, or other evidence-based treatment approaches.
CPR/BLS certification. Training may be provided if needed.

Candidates pursuing independent clinical licensure, including LPCC and Clinical Social Worker Candidate (SWC) applicants, may apply. Consideration of candidate-level clinicians depends upon program requirements and clinical-supervision availability.
