Full Job Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse – Neuro Telemetry

Also known as: Neuro Tele RN, Telemetry RN, Neuro Stepdown RN, Neuro RN, PCU RN, Stepdown RN

2. Position Overview

Seeking a Contract Registered Nurse (RN) for a busy Neuro/Stroke Telemetry and Stepdown unit.

Start Date: September 8, 2026
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts
Shift Time: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Patient Ratio: 1:4
Weekend: Every other weekend required
First-time travelers: Not accepted
Local candidates: Not accepted within 70 miles

3. Key Responsibilities

Provide safe, high-quality care to neuro, stroke, trauma, and med/surg patients.
Care for patients requiring Telemetry and Stepdown-level monitoring.
Perform neurological assessments and NIHSS.
Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms.
Care for stroke, neurosurgery, trauma, and IMC/Stepdown patients.
Manage IVs, PICC lines, central lines, blood products, and feeding tubes.
Provide care for patients with lumbar drains and other neurological conditions.
Respond to rapid response and emergency situations.
Provide stroke education and patient/family support.

4. Requirements

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
Telemetry experience required.
Neuro Stepdown/PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience required.
Trauma Level II experience required.
Prior travel nursing experience required.
Must be comfortable caring for stroke, neuro, trauma, and Stepdown patients.
Strong clinical assessment, communication, and teamwork skills.

5. Education

Nursing degree from an accredited nursing program.

6. Certifications

BLS – Required
ACLS – Required
NIHSS – Required

7. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with stroke and neurosurgical patients.
Experience with lumbar drains.
Experience with craniotomy and intracranial bleeds.
Experience with CVA, seizures, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries.
Experience with Telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation.
Experience with respiratory support, including BiPAP/CPAP and HFNC.
Experience with IV insulin protocols and heparin protocols.
Experience with wound care and surgical drains.
Navy Blue scrubs required.
Must be able to complete required respiratory fit testing.
Travelers must be able to shave as required for proper respirator fit testing.

Pay: $2,000.00 - $2,400.00 per week
