We are looking for a passionate and talented individual to join our team as an Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician at our Lakewood, NJ site.
Position Summary:
The Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the following: Troubleshoots, repairs, fabricates, installs, upgrades, and maintains electro-mechanical machinery and equipment as on production machines including slicer blades, bearings, motors, pneumatic tools, shafting, gear boxes, generators, mixers, air compressors, conveyor systems, etc. by performing the following duties.
Essential duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Responsible always for promoting a safety culture and awareness within area of responsibility. Support all plant safety policies and procedures.
- Execute preventative maintenance schedules. Perform routine electrical and mechanical inspections, repairs, and maintenance on plant equipment (i.e.-emergency lighting, motors, switchgear, smoke detectors, etc.)
- Perform all maintenance activities such as predictive and preventative maintenance, work orders and improvement projects via Limble CMMS system
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Locates sources of problems by observing and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
- Electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical assembly and installation for custom automation equipment using assembly and component drawings, pneumatic- and hydraulic plans, and wiring diagrams
- Perform troubleshooting of safety devices, which includes Estops, guard doors, light curtains, and safety relays. Example devices include linear servo handling, electric and servo-electric motors
- Performs operations such as wire cutting, stripping, crimping all sizes of wire using the associated tools and equipment.
- Performs soldering operations that include all wire sizes (large to small) using soldering stations, pots, resistance soldering equipment and propane torch
- Uses test equipment (i.e., fixed gauges, power supplies, multi-meters) to perform continuity and troubleshoot problems on electrical operations including live circuits
- Use of various tools including electric drills, pneumatic drills, rivet poppers, wire terminal crimpers, Artos and Komax wire cutting and stripping machines
- Use of various equipment such as hand tools, saws, hand drill and drill press, grinders, multi-meters, and other measurement devices (such as calipers)
- Test equipment in manual and automatic modes in conjunction with a programmer
- Provide support for customer runoffs
- Identify necessary design changes and communicate them with team leader and/or engineering department.
- Experience with Electrical schematics, components, and pneumatics.
- A basic knowledge of PLC functions and communication (Profinet, Ethernet and RS-232) is preferred
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
- Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
- Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Available for Overtime (daily and weekends) and to respond during off-shifts if needed.
- All other duties assigned by Nitto, Inc. management
Education and Experience :
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of five (5) years as an industrial electrician (approx. 60% of position requirement) with mechanical equipment repair (approx. 40% of position requirement).
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a commercial, industrial, or manufacturing facility operations setting; knowledge of packaging equipment, conveyors, extruders preferred.
- Experience maintaining and installing equipment such as PLC, sensors, and other automation equipment.
- Willingness and ability to work weekends, overtime (including coverage and standby), and holidays as required. Must be able to function/cross train in primary craft.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and/or ABILITIES: (Preferred or Required)
- Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and methods, materials, tools, equipment, and systems.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal codes and regulations pertaining to the electrical trade; computer logic and programming; inspection of identification and knowledge of all electrical distribution systems (24 volts DC to 480 volts AC); methods and practices following in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of Electrical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic and Mechanical Systems.
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment issues.
- Reading engineering layout plans, blueprints, electrical or hydraulic schematics
- Safety equipment needed to perform work safely.
- Experience with Lock out-Tag out.
- Tools and other common mechanical devices.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
- Certification from an accredited training program in Electrical Maintenance and/or Electrical Systems
- highly preferred.
- New Jersey State Black Seal High Pressure Boiler Operator License desirable or ability to obtain one.
- Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) certification, Welding highly preferred.
Salary Range: $85,000-95,000yr
