Part-Time Bookkeeper (1099 Independent Contractor)

The Nussbaum Team | Real Broker
Location: Toms River, NJ
Schedule: One full day (8 hours, 9 AM - 5 PM) onsite in our Toms River office is required each week
Compensation: $30-$40 per hour (based on experience)

About Us

The Nussbaum Team is one of the top-producing real estate teams in Ocean County, helping buyers and sellers throughout the Jersey Shore. We're looking for a detail-oriented, reliable Bookkeeper to support our growing business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently while becoming a valued part of a fast-paced real estate operation.

This is a 1099 Independent Contractor position with the opportunity for additional hours and long-term growth as our business continues to expand.

Position Details

One full day (8 hours, 9 AM - 5 PM) onsite in our Toms River office is required each week
Potential for additional REMOTE hours
Remaining hours may be completed remotely
Candidates must live within approximately 30 minutes of Toms River, NJ

Responsibilities

Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks Online
Reconcile approximately 15 bank and credit card accounts on a recurring basis
Record and categorize business income and expenses
Enter payroll journal entries into QuickBooks
Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial accuracy
Understand and apply double-entry accounting principles
Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with month-end close
Review transactions for accuracy and identify discrepancies
Maintain vendor records and process bills
Track reimbursements and owner distributions
Assist with budgeting and cash flow reporting
Organize financial records for tax preparation and coordinate with the company's CPA as needed
Maintain organized digital financial files and supporting documentation
Ensure confidentiality of all financial information
Recommend process improvements and accounting efficiencies

Qualifications

4+ years of bookkeeping experience
Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online (required)
Intermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Solid understanding of double-entry accounting
Experience reconciling multiple bank and credit card accounts
Experience recording payroll in QuickBooks
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced small business environment
Real estate bookkeeping experience is a plus, but not required

Growth Opportunity
