Job Overview

Join our dynamic team as an Insurance Specialist, where your expertise will drive accurate medical coding, billing, and claims processing to ensure seamless insurance operations. In this vital role, you will collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to facilitate efficient reimbursement processes. Your attention to detail and knowledge of medical coding systems will help optimize revenue cycles and improve overall patient service experiences. This position offers an energetic environment where your skills directly impact the financial health of healthcare organizations.

Duties

Review and interpret medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes for procedures and services.
Ensure accurate DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) assignments for hospital inpatient claims to support proper reimbursement.
Prepare and submit insurance claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, verifying all data for accuracy.
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, resolving discrepancies promptly.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of medical records, billing details, and coding activities in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure coding accuracy for optimal reimbursement.
Stay current with updates in medical terminology, coding guidelines, and insurance policies to maintain compliance and efficiency.

Requirements

Proven experience in medical office settings with a strong understanding of medical billing and coding processes.
Proficiency in ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, and DRG classifications.
Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
Experience using EMR/EHR systems for billing, coding, and record keeping.
Knowledge of medical collection procedures and insurance claim submission workflows.
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple claims accurately.
Ability to adapt quickly to evolving healthcare regulations and coding updates.
