Overview

We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, medical billing, and coding processes, along with strong organizational and communication skills. Experience in medical office management, dental or clinic settings, and proficiency with various EMR platforms such as eClinicalWorks, Epic, Meditech is highly desirable. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations. The Medical Receptionist will play a vital role in maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring smooth clinic operations.

Duties

Greet patients and visitors professionally, ensuring a welcoming environment at the front desk
Schedule appointments using EMR systems like Eclinicalworks, Epic, Meditech,
Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures
Collect patient payments and process medical collections accurately
Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently
Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette and assist with patient inquiries
Maintain and update electronic health records (EHR) using systems such as eClinicalWorks
Review documentation for accuracy and completeness in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Assist with billing procedures including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare documentation review
Manage filing of medical records and ensure proper documentation review for accuracy
Support clinic staff with administrative tasks such as data entry, typing, and office management duties
Ensure compliance with health information management standards and confidentiality protocols

Skills

Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing practices
Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems including eClinicalWorks, Epic, Meditech and other office management software
Experience with insurance verification processes and Medicare documentation requirements
Excellent customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and multi-line phone system operation
Ability to handle clerical tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and document review accurately
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
Bilingual capabilities are preferred to enhance communication with diverse patient populations
Previous experience working in clinics or dental offices is highly advantageous
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for administrative support
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining attention to detail
