Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday 11:00am to 10:00pm

Note to Applicants: This is a 9-month appointment with a schedule of September through May each year.

Job Summary: The Testing Services Associate I provides administrative support for the department. Utilizes imaging technology, software, databases and tools. Maintains availability, accuracy, security, and confidentiality of imaged documents. Assists with the development and testing of templates forms for optimal use of imaging technology. Maintains statistics and data analysis for administrative reporting.

Additional Department Summary: The University of Alabama’s Office of Disability Services (ODS) Testing Center supports the institution’s commitment to equal access by providing and coordinating academic testing accommodations in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The Testing Center operates in a fast-paced, high-volume environment serving a large student population from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

This position prepares testing spaces, distributing exams, setting up computers and assistive technology, and verifying that each student receives the correct accommodations. Checks students in and out, reviewing testing agreements, tracks exam attendance in real-time systems, and actively monitors testing sessions through room observations, camera systems, and computer activity to ensure test integrity and compliance. Troubleshoots and problem-solves during testing, including resolving issues such as incorrect exams, access or password problems, timing discrepancies, and technical difficulties with computers or testing platforms. Communicates with faculty to clarify exam instructions, address student testing questions, and resolve urgent issues. Supports faculty with submitting exams and completing testing agreements, as well as guiding students through testing procedures and accommodation processes. Manages high volumes of phone calls and emails, maintaining accurate and confidential records, scanning and uploading completed exams, and documenting testing incidents through case notes. Works within complex record-keeping and student information systems to provide accurate, timely support to students, faculty, and staff. Contributes to the overall operation of the Testing Center by assisting with test preparation during peak periods, overseeing student assistants, maintaining clean and organized testing environments, and helping to ensure smooth daily workflow.

Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED.

Skills and Knowledge: Strong verbal and written skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Critical thinking and problem-solving under pressure. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Technical aptitude with testing platforms and systems. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with electronic databases.

Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year working in customer service. Knowledge of ADA compliance and confidentiality standards.
