Assignment Overview

Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs
Hours: 36 hrs/wk
Start Date: Sep 8, 2026
Length: 13 weeks

Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a CVICU position requiring prior travel experience and 2 years of cardiovascular ICU nursing experience.

Details

Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of a hospital setting
Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
Patient ratio of 1:2
Uses Epic charting system
Dark gray scrub color required

Requirements

Active TX or Compact RN license currently in hand
Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
Minimum 2 years of CVICU nursing experience preferred
Prior travel nursing experience required
Epic charting experience required
Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care/management, and PICC line management
Experience with ECMO care, nurse driven ECMO protocols, and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) management
Post cardiac surgery patient care experience (not directly from the OR)
Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring experience
Care of ventilated patients and interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, and administering continuous IV sedation
Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred

Additional Information

Provide comprehensive cardiovascular ICU nursing care including hemodynamic monitoring and management of critically ill cardiac patients
Complete required onboarding modules onsite during orientation, averaging 4-6 hours for RNs
Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties are not accepted
Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
First-time travelers are not being considered for this role
