FiveStar Gourmet Foods. Inc. invites you to explore the opportunity to join our growing team! We are seeking qualified candidates for a QA Supervisor (Senior Level). The ideal candidate will meet the required qualifications and possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to excel in this position.

This is a full-time, 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM position that requires the incumbent to be able to work flexible hours for the shift to start and/or end 1 to 2 hours earlier or later than scheduled to meet business needs; the work week will begin on Sundays and may need to work on Saturdays occasionally.

Quality Assurance Supervisor (Senior Level) Job Description

Summary: Five Star Gourmet Foods, Inc. ensures that all employees carrying out work that can affect product quality and safety are adequately qualified, trained, instructed and supervised commensurate with their activity and are demonstrably competent to carry out their tasks. All employees are responsible for food safety and quality. All staff is briefed to report any food safety or quality concerns.

Under the direct supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Supervisor (Senior Level) will carry out the following essential duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES Job Tasks/Duties (not all inclusive):

Develop, maintain and keep current all supplier and ingredient certifications.
Maintain ongoing files for nutritional information and ingredient Certification of Analyses.
Maintain organized filing system to ensure all information is readily available at any time to support company needs.
Work closely with production personnel to identify problems and corrective actions.
Responsible for oversight, assistance and review of all quality audits performed by external parties.
Implement and manage Validation and Verification activities towards the Food Safety and Quality programs.
Responsible for continuing maintenance of HACCP, SSOP and GMPs for the facility.
Ensure that company product "hold" policies and procedures are communicated to plant staff and that the plant adheres to the procedures. Recommends, as appropriate, the suspension of product or the release of product when quality standards are not achieved.
Participate in GMP, sanitation, and safety inspections throughout the production departments and correct or issues work orders to correct any identified deficiencies. Follow up on work orders with the appropriate associates to ensure expeditious performance of the requested work.
Oversight of SQF System and process
Maintain the integrity of the SQF System
Review and closure of corrective and preventive actions taken towards nonconformities found during the internal audits and making sure the quality system is continually improving.
Ensure that product safety, quality and traceability protocols are in place for all products by ensuring appropriate controls are in place, including documentation.
Hire, supervise and train Quality Control staff in a manner which will result in an informed, trained, and effective team.
Manage food laboratory and microbial lab.
Ensure all employees follow GMP policies.
Identify weaknesses in Food Safety and Quality Systems and work to provide resolutions.
Responsible for Vendor/Supplier approval
Handle all nonconformance related to vendors/suppliers.
Lead the investigation of complaints and reports to customers on a timely basis.
Monitor vendors through nonconformance trends and external audits to ensure quality standards are met.
Manage all documentation, review and approve daily.
Sign the product release form
Manage and create all employees training on a routine schedule.
Ensure product specifications are met and production is consistent with approved product.
Verify and validate ongoing procedures for shipping and receiving quality inspections.
Verify that packaging department performs in accordance to specifications, that code dates are accurate, quantity and weights are verified and cleanliness is impeccable.
Manage Listeria Program. Ensure that Listeria is not present in both the environment and product.
Communicate effectively to management with a summary of activities on a weekly basis.
Be the point of contact for USDA Inspector. Communicate effectively on behalf of the company. Respond promptly to inquiries and N.R.s and ensure strict adherence to USDA regulations.
Oversee Sanitation Crew to ensure proper SSOP policies are being met.
Validate and re-evaluate the effectiveness of cleaning procedures.
Train the Sanitation Crew on a regular basis for proper techniques. Make sure that the sanitation schedule is strictly met.
Ensure that the entire facility is being strictly observed for proper sanitation, maintenance and GMPs (i.e. parking lot, trash area, warehouse, freezers, employee lockers, etc.)
Keep updated on the current industry standards in Food Safety and Quality Control practices and requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience:

BA in food science
Must have knowledge in Food Safety
Must be HACCP Certified
Must have SQF experience
4+ years of experience in the food industry
Must have experience with USDA/FDA
Must be flexible with schedule
Knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel
