Full Job Description

Position Summary
The Line Cook is responsible for executing high-quality dishes with precision, consistency, and speed in a fast-paced, fine-dining steakhouse environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and pride in craftsmanship.
Line Cooks are expected to uphold Bar W Steakhouse standards in food quality, cleanliness, organization, and teamwork at all times.

Core Responsibilities

1. Station Execution & Food Quality

Prepare and execute menu items according to recipes and chef standards
Maintain consistency in portioning, plating, and presentation
Ensure all food leaving the kitchen meets quality expectations
Properly season, cook, and rest proteins (especially steaks) to specification
Follow all ticket times and maintain strong sense of urgency during service

2. Prep & Mise en Place

Complete daily prep lists efficiently and accurately
Maintain fully stocked and organized station before and during service
Practice proper labeling, dating, and rotation (FIFO)
Minimize waste and use product responsibly

3. Cleanliness & Organization

Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation at all times
Follow all food safety and sanitation standards
Keep floors, equipment, and surfaces clean throughout shift
Execute daily and weekly cleaning tasks as assigned

4. Teamwork & Communication

Communicate clearly with chefs and team members during service
Support other stations when needed
Maintain professionalism and composure under pressure
Take direction and feedback with a growth mindset

5. Standards & Discipline

Show up on time, prepared, and in proper uniform
Follow all kitchen systems, SOPs, and procedures
Maintain focus, urgency, and attention to detail throughout shift
Take ownership of station performance and personal development

Qualifications

1+ years of kitchen experience preferred (steakhouse or high-volume kitchen a plus)
Basic knife skills and understanding of cooking techniques
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Strong work ethic and reliability
Passion for food and continuous improvement

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods (8–12 hours)
Ability to lift 50+ lbs
Ability to work in hot, fast-paced kitchen environment
