Full Job Description

HAVENWYCK HOSPITAL (a UHS facility)

Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults. It is the ultimate goal of our dedicated staff to build strength, confidence and knowledge within each patient, in hopes that they may continue learning and understanding their needs and practicing self-care for the rest of their lives.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Unit Secretary is responsible for the clerical functions on the unit, acts as a receptionist for the program and is under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Acts as receptionist for unit/program, answers telephone, takes messages and delivers them.
Inventories and orders supplies for the unit.
Stocks all forms and checks weekly in order to maintain supply.
Keeps nursing station and conference room clean and uncluttered on a daily basis.
Makes copies when requested.
Brings mail to unit and takes outgoing mail to the mail room.
Completes the appropriate documentation for patient room changes.
Orders and picks up patient trays and returns trays to the dining room for on unit meals, when nursing staff is not available.
Inputs requests for Plant Operations and assures follow up.
Orders food supplies for patient snacks.
Maintains patient medical records.
Puts together admission packets (minimum of ten on hand at all times).
Files lab work, EEG and EKG results in the patient’s chart after the physician reviews and signs the record.
Contacts the Admitting department when a patient arrives to be admitted.
When a patient is discharged, faxes the notice to the Pharmacy department.
Break down discharge charts.
Notifies physicians of consults.
