Position Description:
The Locksmith installs, repairs, modifies, and opens a variety of locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults. Examines locking mechanism and installs new unit or disassembles unit and replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts or repairs them by filing, drilling, chiseling and grinding, opens door locks by moving lock pick in cylinder or opens safe locks by listening to lock sounds or drilling. by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Installs, repairs, rebuilds, and services mechanical or electrical locking devices, using hand tools and special equipment.
- Disassembles locks, such as padlocks, and door locks, repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts.
- Inserts new or repaired tumblers into locks to change combinations.
- Cuts new or duplicate keys using key cutting machine and stamps with identification.
- Pick locks open when keys are not available.
- Keeps records of company locks and keys.
- Maintains the base master keys systems and key and core inventory database.
- Installs, services, and repairs various types of locks and security devices.
Required Qualifications and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three (3) years related experience ; and any federal or state required licenses and certifications.
- Applicant should be familiar with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards and manufacturers recommendations.
- Applicant must have one (1) year experience in repair and installation of locking devices and be certified or be able to become certified IAW DOD 5200.1-R, paragraph 3-400.
- Experience in O&M to include supporting a work force that is responsible for O&M and repair of all facility systems, subsystems, and selected equipment typically found in a Base Operating Services contract.

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Must be able to pass a company drug screen and background check. Must possess a valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record.
