We are a growing outpatient mental health practice committed to making high-quality therapy accessible to diverse communities throughout Washington. We believe excellent client care starts with investing in exceptional clinicians. We are seeking a Clinical Director who is passionate about developing clinicians, supporting supervisors, and helping build a thriving clinical culture. This is an opportunity to step into a key leadership role within an established and growing practice that already has strong operational support systems in place, including dedicated scheduling, billing, HR, and administrative teams.

Position Summary

The Clinical Director provides leadership, oversight, and support for our clinical team while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, ethical, and effective care. This role is ideal for a licensed clinician who enjoys mentoring others, building systems, fostering team culture, and helping clinicians grow professionally.

The Clinical Director will directly support licensed clinicians, oversee clinical supervisors, participate in recruitment and onboarding efforts, and collaborate with leadership to strengthen clinical operations and client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Supervision

- Provide leadership and support to a team of licensed clinicians and clinical supervisors.

- Meet regularly with licensed clinicians to provide clinical consultation, performance support, and professional development.

- Ensure clinicians meet legal, ethical, and organizational standards of practice.

- Review documentation, conduct chart audits, and provide guidance on clinical best practices.

- Respond to clinical crises and support risk management processes.

- Respond to records requests, subpoenas, and other legal or regulatory inquiries.

- Complete performance evaluations and employment-related documentation.

Supervisor Development

- Lead and support a team of clinical supervisors.

- Provide ongoing training, consultation, and mentorship to supervisors.

- Facilitate monthly supervisor meetings focused on leadership development, clinical excellence, and best practices.

Recruitment & Talent Development

- Participate in clinician recruitment, hiring, and onboarding.

- Build relationships with graduate programs, internship sites, and professional networks.

- Help develop and improve onboarding materials, clinical trainings, and professional development opportunities.

- Foster a learning culture that supports interns, associates, supervisors, and licensed clinicians.

Operations & Collaboration

- Partner with practice operations, HR, scheduling, and billing teams to support smooth clinical operations.

- Manage clinician scheduling considerations, time-off requests, office utilization, and related policies.

- Oversee client transfer processes and support continuity of care.

- Respond to client and staff feedback and collaborate with leadership to implement improvements.

- Assist with records requests, subpoenas, and other legal or compliance-related matters.

- Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to strategic planning and organizational growth.

Team Culture & Engagement

- Lead and facilitate weekly staff meetings.

- Plan and support quarterly team events and community-building initiatives.

- Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and mission-driven workplace culture.

Qualifications

Required

- Master's or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, or a related mental health field.

- Active Washington State license as an LMFT, LMHC, LICSW, or Clinical Psychologist.

- Minimum six (6) years of clinical experience in mental health services, with expertise in one or more specialty areas such as children and families, trauma, crisis response, couples therapy, or other populations relevant to the practice.

- Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, or leading clinicians.

- Strong understanding of ethical, legal, and clinical standards of practice.

- Eligible for credentialing with all insurance panels accepted by the practice.

- Comfortable learning and utilizing technology platforms and practice management systems.

Preferred

- Experience in private practice, group practice, or community mental health settings.

- Experience with family therapy, couples therapy, or clinician supervision.

- Familiarity with COAMFTE and/or CACREP-accredited training programs.

- Previous experience recruiting, onboarding, or developing clinicians.

- Experience supporting interns, associates, and emerging supervisors.

Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work environment. The Clinical Director is expected to spend at least one full day per week onsite at our Federal Way location, with additional onsite time optional based on preference and organizational needs.
