Full Job Description

Denali Industrial Supply is seeking a motivated, high-performing Sales Lead to help launch and grow our brand-new Valley store location. This is a unique opportunity to join a premier, local Alaskan-owned company as a founding member of our new Valley team.

In this role, you will work directly under the General Manager. You will start with 3 to 4 months of hands-on training at our Anchorage branch to master our systems, product lines, and vendor networks before transitioning to the new Valley location. If you are an experienced sales professional with a background in construction, tools, or industrial supplies who wants a clear pipeline to future management and leadership roles, we want to talk to you.

Core Responsibilities

Your primary mission is to keep the sales floor running smoothly and act as the technical backbone for the counter staff:

Counter & Sales Support: Actively support the sales team by researching hard-to-find items, generating accurate customer quotes, and processing special orders.
Vendor & Purchasing Management: Coordinate directly with manufacturers and vendors regarding pricing and lead times. Create purchase orders (POs) and build new part numbers in our system as needed.
Technical Documentation: Coordinate with fastener manufacturers to pull Material Test Reports (MTRs) and structural certifications required by our commercial contractors.
Logistics Coordination: Calculate freight costs for non-stocking items and coordinate incoming special-order shipments.
Team Leadership: Support the GM in opening/closing procedures, training junior staff, and maintaining a highly organized showroom.

Education & Certifications

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required: Valid Alaska Driver's License with a clean driving record (ability to meet insurance requirements for occasional parts runs or customer deliveries).
Preferred: Forklift certification (or the ability to obtain one through company-provided training).

Required Experience & Skills

Industrial/Trade Knowledge: 2+ years of experience working with industrial supplies, fasteners, rigging, safety gear, or professional power tools.
Customer Service: Proven track record in retail sales, industrial counter sales, or commercial account management.
Computer Literacy: Strong computer skills, including experience with inventory management (ERP) systems, purchase order creation, and basic Microsoft Excel.
Heavy Lifting: Ability to stand for long periods and safely lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

Our Preferences (The "Nice-to-Haves")

Prior experience as a keyholder, shift lead, or department supervisor.
A hands-on background in the construction, mechanical, or building trades.
Prior experience reading technical submittals, blueprints, or structural specifications.

Note: Some local travel and commuting between the Valley and Anchorage will be required during the initial 2–3 month training phase. Commute/travel support will be discussed during the interview process.
