Full Job Description

True Rx Pharmacy is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to oversee the daily operations of our community pharmacy. The Pharmacist-in-Charge will be responsible for ensuring the pharmacy operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable Michigan Board of Pharmacy, Michigan law, federal DEA requirements, and other applicable federal and state regulations.The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety and quality pharmacy care.

Serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge and provide overall professional and operational oversight of the pharmacy.
Ensure compliance with Michigan pharmacy laws, federal regulations, DEA requirements, and applicable third-party payer requirements.
Supervise, train, and support pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, interns, and other pharmacy staff.
Oversee the dispensing of prescription medications accurately and safely.
Review prescriptions for appropriate dosing, drug interactions, allergies, duplications, contraindications, and other potential medication-related concerns.
Counsel patients regarding medications, including proper use, precautions, side effects, and adherence.
Maintain appropriate procedures for controlled substances, including inventory, recordkeeping, dispensing, security, and loss/theft reporting.
Monitor controlled-substance inventory and ensure required perpetual and periodic counts are performed accurately.
Maintain pharmacy policies and procedures and ensure staff follow established protocols.
Ensure proper documentation of medication errors, near misses, recalls, complaints, and other pharmacy incidents.
Work with prescribers and other healthcare professionals to resolve prescription questions and medication-related issues.
Monitor prescription processing and workflow to promote accuracy, efficiency, and patient safety.
Ensure appropriate storage, handling, security, and disposal of medications.
Oversee drug recalls and ensure affected medications are identified, quarantined, and handled appropriately.
Maintain accurate pharmacy records and ensure required documentation is readily available for inspections and audits.
Assist with third-party insurance claims, prior authorizations, rejected claims, and other pharmacy billing issues as needed.
Help maintain appropriate relationships with patients, prescribers, wholesalers, insurance companies, and other healthcare partners.
Participate in pharmacy inspections, audits, investigations, and regulatory reviews.
Identify opportunities to improve pharmacy workflow, patient care, medication safety, and operational efficiency.
Promote a professional, respectful, and patient-centered pharmacy environment.
Perform other duties necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the pharmacy.
