Full Job Description

Big Lake Brewing is seeking a talented, driven, and leadership-minded Sous Chef to help lead our back-of-house operations! As the second-in-command in our kitchen, you will partner closely with the Head Chef to manage daily kitchen operations, uphold exceptional food quality, and foster a positive, high-performing team culture.

This is a hands-on leadership role. We need someone who is not only a skilled culinary professional capable of jumping on the line during a heavy rush, but also an organized manager who can lead by example, mentor line cooks, and ensure the kitchen runs like a well-oiled machine. What You'll Do:

Kitchen Leadership: Oversee daily back-of-house operations, ensuring the line is fully prepped, organized, and executing the menu flawlessly.
Team Development: Train, mentor, and supervise line and prep cooks. Maintain high morale and enforce performance standards.
Quality Control: Ensure every dish leaving the kitchen meets Big Lake’s standards for taste, presentation, and consistency.
Operational Management: Assist with inventory tracking, ordering, labor scheduling, and food cost management to hit profitability goals.
Safety & Sanitation: Enforce strict health, safety, and sanitation standards, maintaining a clean and compliant kitchen at all times.
Menu Collaboration: Work with leadership on seasonal menu updates, daily features, and beer-pairing specials.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience: 2+ years of culinary management experience (as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, or Lead Cook) in a high-volume, scratch-casual, or pub-style kitchen.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead a crew under pressure, resolve conflicts constructively, and manage kitchen pacing.
Technical Proficiency: Strong knife skills, mastery of all kitchen stations, and a solid understanding of food safety regulations (ServSafe certification is a major plus).
Business Acumen: Basic understanding of food cost, inventory management, and labor tracking.
Availability: Flexibility to work a open schedule, including nights, weekends, and peak brewery events.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
