Achievement House Cyber Charter School is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and results-oriented Interim Principal to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our academic school community. This leadership position is responsible for driving academic success, and ensuring every student and family has a V.I.P experience.
About the Role
The Interim Principal will use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student in the school. The Interim Principal will help guide the school according to PA Department of Education standards and be an effective communicator in articulating the school’s mission.
Responsibilities
- Developing professional staff expertise by defining expectations for staff performance regarding instructional strategies and communication with the cyber community.
- Observing employee performance, recording observations, and conducting objective evaluation conferences with the staff.
- Assisting in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, and evaluation of the school’s professional and support staff.
- Conferring with staff regarding their professional growth and helps them develop and accomplish organizational and personal goals.
- Make personnel assignments based on knowledge of employee abilities, qualifications, past performances, and school needs.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Principal and Curriculum Coordinator with curriculum development activities commensurate with school and district goals.
- Identifying curricular and extracurricular needs by analysing current programs and student achievement.
- Provide and promote opportunities for staff to increase professional expertise.
- Emphasizing student assessment/monitoring and constantly reinforcing student achievement as the primary outcome of schooling.
- Support the concepts of distance learning and online education and their future development.
- Promotes and educates the use of technology as a tool to research, organize, evaluate, and communicate information to students, parents/guardians, and staff.
- Systematically assessing and monitoring student progress using objective and verifiable data.
- Working with staff to systematically identify and respond to at-risk students; makes referrals to appropriate school and community agencies as needed.
- Providing meaningful guidance and information to parents/guardians and others regarding student progress.
- Updating/Revising the existing attendance policy collectively with the Dean of Students Office ensuring that the policy and support enforcement of said attendance policy to hold high standards for students.
- Ensuring that school rules are uniformly observed, and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
- Communicating and promoting expectations for high level performance to staff and students.
- Recognizing excellence in student and staff achievement. Working with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behaviour and enhances the school climate.
- Solicits information from school personnel and cyber community to gauge school climate.
- Foster collegiality and team building among staff and encourage active involvement in the decision-making process.
- Establish and maintain an effective workplace by minimizing interruptions to instructional process, promoting maximum learning, supporting new teachers and POC/Induction, assisting in professional development of teachers, providing resources and materials to support instructional goals, gathering staff input on activities and implementing programs.
- Identify, analyze, and apply research findings to promote school improvement.
- Listen and respond appropriately to staff, student, and community concerns.
- Foster open communication among staff.
- Encourage parent involvement in decision making and keep the community informed about school activities.
- Collaborate and communicate with administration and appropriate staff to keep them informed on school activities, concerns, ideas, and expertise.
- Employs proactive problem-solving skills in an attempt to avoid crisis situations.
- Consider research and data, and all sides when making decisions.
- Effectively delegates decision making and problem solving to appropriate personnel.
- Implements needed change with appropriate support of staff, students, and cyber community.
- Develop and administers programs within budget limits, maintains fiscal control, and accurately reports financial information.
- Complies with school policies and state and federal laws and regulations affecting the school.
- Anticipates and plans for future growth needs.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Master’s degree in education or related field preferred.

Minimum of five years combined teaching and administrative experience required.
- Experience as Assistant Principal, Principal, or other equivalent, managerial experience relating to secondary schools is preferred.
- Experience in cyber environment is desired.
- Understanding and knowledge of PA Dept. Education standards for secondary education.

Ability to work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Proven record as a critical thinker and effective problem solver.

Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, parents/guardians, and staff.

Proficient in technology, MS Office Suite applications, Learning Management Systems, Student Information Systems.

Ability to multi-task and effectively manage time under pressure.

Ability to be self-motivate and be independent; able to work with minimal supervision.

Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Certifications/Clearances
- PA Secondary Principal Certificate or ability to efficiently obtain this certificate to meet PDE requirements.
- PA Teaching certificate in other subject areas, including Special Education, is a plus.
