DIAGNOSTIC MECHANIC

Kansas Paving / Kansas Ready Mix

Location: Wichita, Kansas
Job Type: Full-Time

Kansas Paving / Kansas Ready Mix is looking for an experienced Diagnostic Mechanic to join our shop team. This position is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of heavy trucks, concrete trucks, construction equipment, and other company vehicles.

We are looking for someone who can diagnose problems, identify the root cause, and get equipment back to work safely and efficiently.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and computerized equipment problems.
Use diagnostic scan tools and manufacturer-specific software to identify equipment issues.
Troubleshoot diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, after-treatment systems, and emissions systems.
Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and construction equipment.
Diagnose and repair starting, charging, lighting, and electrical systems.
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, service manuals, and diagnostic information.
Perform inspections and identify potential problems before they become major repairs.
Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacement, lubrication, fluid checks, and adjustments.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts, and maintenance performed.
Communicate with the Shop Manager regarding equipment condition, repairs needed, and parts requirements.
Assist with field repairs and equipment breakdowns when necessary.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
Other duties as assigned.

DIAGNOSTIC PROGRAMS & SYSTEMS

Experience with the following programs and manufacturer diagnostic systems is preferred:

Insight / JAL Test
Davies
CASE
Volvo
Mack
Other computerized heavy-duty diagnostic and service programs
OEM service information and electronic troubleshooting systems

The ability to learn and work with multiple manufacturer-specific diagnostic programs is important for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, diagnostic technician, or similar position.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy-duty equipment.
Experience diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems.
Experience using computerized diagnostic equipment and scan tools.
Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Good computer skills and ability to learn manufacturer-specific diagnostic software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
