Population Served: Adults with Developmental Disabilities

Employment Type: Social Services Part-Time ($25,000.00)

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Requirement: Hybrid, Office site 2 times per week (Monday/Tuesday 10 am-3 pm)

The position has the potential to become full-time soon, given the company's growing clientele and expansion.

Job Description

Position Summary

The Direct Support Manager (DSM) oversees daily operations, support services, and staff across assigned programs serving individuals with developmental disabilities. The DSM ensures high-quality, person-centered care and compliance with all state, federal, and agency regulations. This role includes staff supervision, training, scheduling, documentation oversight, and collaboration with families, guardians, and support coordinators. This position requires reviewing shift summaries weekly and preparing biweekly payroll by approving and linking staff timesheets on the company’s clock in/clock out platform.

Key Responsibilities

1. Program Oversight & Quality Assurance

Ensure individuals receive safe, person-centered, and health-focused supports consistent with their Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
Monitor program operations to maintain compliance with DDD, DHS, Medicaid, and internal agency standards.
Conduct regular site visits, safety checks, and quality audits.
Maintain and review documentation, including progress notes, data tracking, and incident reports.
Coordinate Marketing and recruitment events if needed.

2. Staff Leadership & Supervision

Recruit, train, and supervise Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
Create staffing schedules, manage callouts, and coordinate coverage as needed.
Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action when necessary.
Promote a positive, supportive, and trauma-informed work culture, which means providing and promoting a healing, trusting, and resilient environment for clients and communities
Ability to handle multiple responsibilities
Requires patience and great communication

3. Health, Wellness & Risk Management

Oversee individuals’ health care needs, medical appointments, and medication administration (following MAP or state-required protocols).
Communicate with clinicians, nurses, case management, and behavior support teams.
Ensure completion of incident reports and follow-up procedures according to regulatory standards.
Addresses and mitigate health and safety risks proactively.

4. Communication & Collaboration

Serve as the primary liaison with families, guardians, Support Coordinators, and state representatives.
Participate in ISP meetings, interdisciplinary team meetings, and internal management meetings.
Communicate program updates, concerns, and outcomes effectively.

5. Administrative Responsibilities

Maintain accurate, timely documentation and records for compliance and billing.
Track program budgets, petty cash, household supplies, and maintenance needs.
Assist with onboarding and new-hire orientations for DSP staff.
Uphold agency policies, ethics, confidentiality standards (HIPAA), and professional conduct expectations.
Coordinate onboarding paperwork, credentialing, and training documentation for new employees.
Understanding and applying company policies and procedures

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in human services, Psychology, social work, health, or exercise-related field preferred.
Minimum 1–2 years of experience in developmental disabilities, residential services, or direct support care.
Supervisory or team-lead experience is strongly preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

Working knowledge of DDD regulations, ISP processes, and person-centered planning.
Strong understanding of confidentiality, HIPAA, and regulatory compliance.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, delegate, and maintain organization.
Competency in using electronic documentation systems and basic computer applications.

Certifications (as required by state/agency)

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
CPR/First Aid certification.
Medication Administration certification (MAP or state equivalent), if required.
Background check and fingerprinting clearance.

Work Environment & Schedule

Primarily site-based with required travel between program locations.
On-call responsibilities, including occasional evening or weekend coverage.
Ability to lift, support, or transfer individuals as needed.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
