Full Job Description

Introduction

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of External Services, Customer and Outreach Services Program - Vehicle Registration Section, is recruiting for a Training Program Coordinator to identify training needs and develop classroom, on-line, eLearning and other forms of training directly related to the operational needs of the agency and bureau.

This position has statewide responsibility and may be headquartered at any DNR facility within the state, depending on office space availability and the location of the selected candidate. Remote work may be available for a portion of the work week, after the initial onboarding period!

The Bureau of Customer and Outreach Services (COS) team members specialize in answering questions related to Wisconsin hunting, fishing, and trapping regulations and license purchases, off highway vehicle registration and boat titling, and serve as first point of contact for customers seeking general information about Department services, programs, properties, and program contacts. COS staff also provide information and services to internal and external partners by responding to and routing information received from department tip lines and hotlines. COS manages the department’s online license issuance system called Go Wild and supports more than 900 private sector license agents and dealers. COS team members staff the DNR’s statewide call center answering calls and emails.

Position Summary

The Training Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, administering, monitoring, evaluating the effectiveness of, and presenting specialized, job-specific training programs for bureau and agency staff. In coordination with the Business Support Specialists and Field Operation Training Officer, this position analyzes and identifies training needs, reviews training programs and recommends changes and modifications as needed to keep training materials and programs relevant to the changing needs of the Bureau, Department, and external partners.

Salary Information

Starting pay for this position is between $36.50 to $39.00 per hour (or $75,920 to $81,120 annually), in addition to excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current employees will follow the provisions of the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan.

This position is in the classification Staff Development Program Specialist - Sr within Pay Schedule/Range 81-03. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit.

Job Details

Travel: Infrequent statewide travel to conduct training will be necessary.

Probation: A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Future Opportunities: This recruitment may be used to fill future similar positions.

Required qualifications include experience in ALL the following:

Developing policies, guidelines, job aids, training materials, and/or standard operating procedures.
Coordinating and planning events, such as training seminars, for classroom, on-line, eLearning and/or other forms of training.
Presenting detailed and/or complex materials, such as training and learning aids, etc., to an audience of adult learners, both in person and online.
Performing quality assurance activities such as auditing calls, processes, emails, etc. to provide improvement feedback and monitor/analyze/assess training effectiveness.

In addition, preferred qualifications include experience in a combination of the following:

Using Cornerstone Learning Management System to draft, maintain, and assign curriculum, material and events
Utilizing Articulate 360 or comparable learning management software/applications such as Absorb LMS, Adobe Captivate or Blackboard Learn to develop training curricula
Professional work experience interpreting and communicating DNR related laws, rules, programs, policies and/or procedures.
