Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Machine Operator Trainer to join our book manufacturing team on a part-time basis. This role is ideal for a skilled machine operator/bindery professional who enjoys teaching others and helping operators develop the knowledge and confidence needed to produce high-quality books safely and efficiently.

Flexible Schedule: Monday - Friday (during the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)

PayScale: $17.96 - $21.13 (hourly)

Responsibilities

Train new and existing employees on bindery equipment and production processes.
Demonstrate proper machine setup, operation, adjustments, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
Ensure all training emphasizes workplace safety, quality standards, and production efficiency.
Evaluate trainee progress and provide constructive coaching and feedback.
Develop and maintain training materials, procedures, and documentation as needed.
Work closely with supervisors to identify skill gaps and recommend additional training.
Promote best practices for equipment care, housekeeping, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of experience operating bindery equipment in a book manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of bindery processes, including folding, gathering, sewing, perfect binding, case binding, trimming, and related finishing operations.
Previous training, mentoring, or supervisory experience preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and adapt training methods to different learning styles.
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
