Sous Chef / Kitchen Manager – Steakhouse (High-Volume, 2+ Yrs Exp Req)

Schedule: 45–50 hours per week | Nights, weekends, and holidays required
Location: Rancho Seco Steakhouse
Pay: $47,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year

Job Description:

Rancho Seco Steakhouse is a high-volume, chef-driven restaurant seeking an experienced Sous Chef/Kitchen Manager to lead back-of-house operations. This is a fast-paced leadership role requiring a minimum of 2 years of kitchen management or sous chef experience in a high-volume restaurant environment.

This role is not entry-level. Candidates must be able to manage a high-volume kitchen, lead a team under pressure, and maintain strict standards for food quality, safety, and execution while controlling food and labor costs.

Qualifications – Sous Chef / Back of House Manager

Required:

2+ years kitchen manager or sous chef experience
High-volume restaurant experience required
Strong leadership in fast-paced kitchen environments
Food safety and sanitation knowledge
Experience with inventory, ordering, and food cost control
Ability to work nights, weekends, and peak service periods

Preferred:

Food Safety Manager Certification

Responsibilities – Kitchen Manager / Sous Chef

Lead and supervise all back-of-house operations
Train, coach, and develop kitchen team members
Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and execution
Manage food ordering, inventory, and receiving
Control food costs, waste, and labor expenses
Create and maintain prep lists, recipes, and kitchen systems
Enforce sanitation, food safety, and health department standards
Schedule kitchen staff and manage daily labor needs
Work the line during service and lead by example
Collaborate on menu development, specials, and seasonal offerings
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment

These responsibilities align with common kitchen manager duties such as staff management, inventory control, food quality oversight, scheduling, sanitation compliance, and cost management.
