Full Job Description

Part-Time Medical Billing Specialist – 1099 Contractor

Applied Innovative Billing LLC is a growing medical billing company looking for a reliable, detail-oriented person to join our team. This position has the potential to grow into a full-time W-2 role as the company expands.

Starting Pay: $18/hour, with consideration given for experience
Schedule: Minimum 15 hours/week during insurance business hours
Location: Remote – Must be physically located in Michigan or Texas

Duties

Review claims for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate billing requirements.
Submit electronic claims and manage billing workflows within EHR/EMR systems.
Follow up on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims and work to resolve discrepancies.
Communicate with insurance companies and patients regarding claims, coverage, and patient balances.
Review documentation and collaborate with providers when additional information or clarification is needed.
Maintain accurate billing and account records while following HIPAA and privacy requirements.
Make and receive phone calls with insurance companies and patients as a regular part of the position.

Experience & Requirements

3+ years of medical billing/RCM experience preferred, but not required.
Experience with outpatient physical, occupational, or speech therapy billing is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems; experience with Prompt, TheraOffice, or Jane App is a plus.
Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, insurance claims, denials, and revenue cycle processes.
Strong organization, attention to detail, critical thinking, and professional communication skills.
Must be comfortable independently researching issues and asking questions when something doesn't make sense.
Must obtain certification through AMBA or AAPC.
Professional Liability Insurance and proof of coverage are required.
Must have a minimum of 15 hours of availability per week between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM EST, during standard insurance business hours.
