Nursing Home Medical Biller

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Nursing Home Medical Biller to join our Business Office team. In this role, you will assist with billing and collections for Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, commercial insurance, and private pay accounts. We are looking for someone who is organized, eager to learn, and committed to providing accurate work. No prior medical billing experience is required—we will provide training to the right candidate.

Responsibilities

Prepare and submit claims to Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, commercial insurance carriers, and other third-party payers.
Review resident accounts for billing accuracy and verify insurance eligibility and coverage.
Monitor outstanding accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims.
Investigate claim denials, make necessary corrections, and submit appeals when appropriate.
Post insurance payments, contractual adjustments, and other account transactions accurately.
Work with Admissions, Medical Records, Nursing, Therapy, and other departments to obtain documentation needed for billing.
Resolve billing issues by communicating with insurance representatives, government agencies, and other payer organizations.
Maintain complete and accurate documentation of account activity.
Identify trends affecting reimbursement and bring recurring issues to management's attention.
Stay current on Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care billing requirements and comply with all applicable regulations.
Assist with month-end billing and other Business Office projects as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
No prior medical billing experience is required. We provide comprehensive on-the-job training.
Previous experience in healthcare, customer service, office administration, or data entry is a plus, but not required.
Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Long-Term Care (LTC) experience is helpful but not required.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel experience is a plus).
Experience with electronic medical records or billing systems is beneficial but not required.
