Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Retinal Photographer, Clinical Research to join our dynamic ophthalmology research team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in optical imaging and clinical photography. This role involves capturing high-quality retinal and ophthalmic images for clinical studies, ensuring precise documentation, and maintaining strict adherence to patient privacy and reading center protocols. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge ophthalmic research while working within a collaborative healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

Perform retinal and research imaging for clinical trial participants, including but not limited to: Color fundus photography, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Optical Coherence Tomography – Angiography (OCT-A), Fundus autofluorescence (FAF), Fluorescein angiography (FA) and Indocyanine Green angiography (ICG), and Microperimetry
Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process, ensuring comfort and compliance throughout the session.
Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient confidentiality and privacy during all phases of data collection.
Ensure all imaging meets sponsor protocols and reading center requirements
Upload and transmit images within required timelines
Collaborate with clinicians and research staff to ensure proper documentation of imaging within medical records and research databases.
Maintain equipment calibration, cleanliness, and functionality while adhering to safety standards in a clinical setting.
Assist research team in collecting and processing laboratory samples

Skills

Strong knowledge of ophthalmology anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to retinal imaging.
Experience with optical imaging devices used in retinal photography
Excellent patient care skills, including effective communication, empathy, and the ability to manage diverse patient populations.
Familiarity with EMR systems and reading center platforms
Understanding of HIPAA compliance standards related to patient privacy and data security.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

Education and Experience

High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
2-4+ years retinal imaging experience in ophthalmology required with proficiency in retinal ophthalmic imaging techniques
Certification (CRA, OCT-C) preferred
Trained phlebotomist (strong plus)
