Full Job Description

The Medical Physicist is responsible for ensuring the safe and accurate delivery of radiation therapy by providing clinical physics support, quality assurance, and treatment planning oversight. This role works closely with Radiation Oncologists, Dosimetrists, and Radiation Therapists to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and to support high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Provide clinical physics support for radiation therapy treatments.
Perform and oversee quality assurance (QA) for linear accelerators and related equipment.
Review and approve radiation treatment plans and dose calculations.
Ensure accurate implementation of physician prescriptions.
Conduct acceptance testing, commissioning, and calibration of radiation therapy equipment.
Develop and maintain radiation safety procedures and ensure regulatory compliance.
Participate in chart rounds, peer reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement advanced treatment techniques.
Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.
Support training and education of clinical staff on radiation safety and physics principles.

Qualifications

Master’s or Doctoral degree in Medical Physics, Physics, or a related field.
Completion of an accredited Medical Physics residency program (preferred).
Board certification or eligibility by ABR (American Board of Radiology) or equivalent.
State licensure, where required.

Experience

2–5 years of clinical experience in radiation oncology physics preferred.
Hands-on experience with linear accelerators, CT simulators, and treatment planning systems.
Familiarity with advanced radiation therapy techniques including IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, and SRS.
Experience with radiation safety programs and regulatory compliance.
