Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Senior Plumbing Service & Sales Technician is a highly skilled, revenue-generating field professional responsible for diagnosing, selling, and performing residential plumbing services. This role requires a minimum of 10 years of hands-on plumbing experience and an active HIS registration.

This position combines advanced technical expertise with strong sales to completion. The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient operator who can manage jobs from initial diagnosis through final payment while maintaining high standards of workmanship, customer satisfaction, and profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Sr. Plumbing Sales & Service Technician will be responsible for the following key duties and tasks:

Sales & Customer Consultation

Perform in-home consultations and assess customer plumbing concern
Present clear, professional, and confident solutions with upfront pricing.
Recommend appropriate repairs, replacements, and system upgrades based on customer needs.
Close sales on-site and secure customer approval prior to beginning work.
Educate customers on available options, including preventative and long-term solutions.

Technical Assessments & Solutions

Perform advanced diagnostics on residential plumbing systems.
Identify root causes of issues related to water, sewer, gas, and fixture systems.
Execute repairs, replacements, and installations, including:
Water heaters (tank & tankless)
Sewer and drain systems
Water lines and repiping
Fixtures, valves, and gas lines
Ensure all work is completed to code and company standards.
Deliver high-quality workmanship with minimal callbacks.

Administrative & Compliance

Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, estimates, and contracts.
Ensure all sales activities comply with company policies and local plumbing regulations.
Use CRM software to track leads, sales progress, and follow-up appointments.
Participate in regular training and development sessions to improve sales skills and technical knowledge.
Ensure compliance with California plumbing codes, safety regulations, and company policies.

Customer Relations

Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, explaining diagnoses, proposed solutions, and costs associated with services.
Educate homeowners on proper care and maintenance of plumbing systems and recommend additional products or services that enhance system performance or efficiency.
Provide upfront pricing and obtain customer approval before performing any service.
Build lasting relationships with customers by ensuring their satisfaction and promptly addressing concerns.

Team Collaboration &Compliance

Work collaboratively with team members to ensure timely completion of scheduled jobs.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all work performed, including service orders, invoices, and parts used.
Ensure all work complies with local plumbing codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
Participate in regular training sessions to stay up to date on new technologies, tools, and industry best practices.

Company Property & Equipment

Keep the company vehicle clean, organized, and stocked with essential tools and parts.
Promptly report any vehicle or equipment issues to the Sales Manager.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required; vocational training in plumbing preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of plumbing sales, repiping, and similar plumbing experience.
Prior experience in home services, in-home sales, or commission-based sales is a plus.

Skills and Abilities

Strong persuasive communication and negotiation skills.
Technical knowledge of plumbing systems, pipe materials, and repipe processes.
Ability to build rapport with homeowners and address concerns effectively.
Comfortable working with CRM systems and digital sales tools.
Self-motivated and driven to achieve or exceed sales targets.
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with customers & team members.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid C-36 HISC plumbing license (Required within 3 months of employment)
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Sales training certifications (preferred but not required).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this position successfully:

Ability to travel locally to conduct in-home consultations within our service region
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
May require bending, standing, walking, and driving for extended periods.
Work is primarily conducted in a residential setting, with occasional visits to job sites.

Additional Information

Wage and/or Commission-based pay with performance incentives
Regular training sessions will be provided to enhance technical skills and stay up-to-date with industry advancements.
This position requires participation in a 90-day probationary period, during which performance will be evaluated, with opportunities for a wage review upon successful completion.
Must pass a background check, drug screening, and reference check prior to employment.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
