USTA/Mid-Atlantic Foundation (USTA/Mid-Atlantic) is seeking a full-time exempt Senior Manager, Community Tennis that will report to the Senior Director of Programs and Services. The Senior Manager, Community Tennis provides leadership and a systems-based approach to expanding tennis access and participation across the Mid-Atlantic Region. This role oversees school-based tennis strategy, community access initiatives, and key introductory pathways, while directly managing a multidisciplinary team responsible for grassroots activation and partnership support. The Senior Manager, Community Tennis position advances participation growth by cultivating and expanding school and community partnerships, supporting advocacy efforts that protect and increase access, and ensuring strategic alignment across programs serving youth and broader communities.

Essential Job Duties and Core Responsibilities
School Programs and Initiatives (60%)
-
Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive schools tennis strategy aligned with USTA Mid-Atlantic’s strategic plan and long-term participation growth goals.

Serve as the subject matter expert for school-based tennis (elementary through high school), establishing clear and sustainable pathways from physical education to community-based and USTA programs.

Build and sustain relationships with school districts, Physical Education (PE) supervisors, and educational partners, with a focused commitment to Title I and historically underserved communities.

Collaborate internally to ensure school engagement efforts align with broader participation, equity, and community impact goals.
-
Other duties as requested.
Team Leadership & Program Oversight (20%)

Provide direct supervision and strategic leadership to staff responsible for Community Tennis Associations (CTAs), National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) chapters, Junior Team Tennis (JTT), Tennis on Campus (TOC), and other community-based initiatives.

Directly manage the distribution, accountability, compliance, and reporting of foundation grant programs that positively impact tennis participation and community infrastructure.

Ensure programs are strategically aligned, adequately resourced, and connected to broader participation, retention, and pathway development goals.

Cultivate a high-performing collaborative team grounded in accountability and professional development across a multidisciplinary department focused on community access and participation growth.
Advocacy & Community Access (10%)

Support grassroots advocacy efforts focused on protecting and expanding access to tennis in schools, parks, and community facilities, with a primary emphasis on youth participation.

Serve as the primary lead for community-level access conversations, working with school districts, municipalities, and local partners to reduce barriers and increase participation.

Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to identify, advance, and support tennis facilities to support school and community-based programs.

Align outreach and advocacy priorities with participation data, equity goals/objectives, and identified community needs to guide investment and engagement strategies
Community Activations & Partnerships (5%)

Oversee high-impact school and community tennis activations designed to increase visibility, engagement, and participation growth.

Serve as a connector across schools, community organizations, providers, and internal teams to ensure cohesive planning, resource alignment, and effective execution.

Support the development of scalable activation models and best practices that can be replicated across the Mid-Atlantic region to drive sustainable community impact.
Data, Insights & Collaboration (5%)

Leverage participation, demographic, and market data to inform strategic decision-making, prioritize outreach efforts, and measure community impact.

Collaborate closely with Leagues, Competition, Events, Marketing, and Development teams to ensure alignment and shared outcomes.

Contribute to storytelling and fundraising efforts related to community engagement, access, and participation growth.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
-
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-
5+ years of progressive experience in community-based programming, youth development, education partnerships, nonprofit leadership, or participation growth in sports.

Demonstrated success building and sustaining partnerships with school districts, municipalities, nonprofit organizations, and community partnerships, including experience working with Title I schools and historically underserved communities.

Proven ability to lead and develop staff while managing cross-functional initiatives to align multiple stakeholders toward shared goals.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to represent the organization confidently with external partners.

Ability to use data and outcomes to guide strategy, measure impact, and drive continuous improvement.

Experience with budgets, grant programs, or funding allocations with strong accountability and reporting requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in tennis, youth sports, parks and recreations, education systems, or other mission-driven participation organizations (USTA, nonprofit, parks and recreation, etc.).

Knowledge of USTA programs including school-based tennis, CTAs, NJTLs, JTT, TOC
- Familiarity with grants, public tennis access models, or community-based funding structures.

On-court experience teaching tennis and/or training coaches or instructors, with the ability to support staff and partners in instructional delivery when needed.

Experience advancing equity through access strategy, community engagement, and program design.

TRAVEL/SCHEDULE DEMANDS

Minimum of 35 hours per week. Additional time may be necessary based on operational demands and business needs to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.

Attend virtual or in-person meetings, workshops and events throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

Travel for conferences and events as needed to be successful.

Attend USTA annual and semi-annual meetings, workshops and other national events.

Required to respond to unanticipated demands outside normal operational hours.

In person all staff meetings at an offsite location up to three (3) times per year.
