UNITED WAY OF PETTIS COUNTY

PROGRAM ASSISTANT POSITION DESCRIPTION

REPORTS TO: Executive Director STATUS: Non-Exempt, Part-Time

To unite people and resources to improve lives in our community.

To be the trusted platform for creating community solutions in Pettis County.

The Program Assistant supports the Executive Director with critical administrative and operational tasks to ensure the efficiency of United Way of Pettis County (UWPC) programs and events. The Program Assistant fosters collaboration by building strong relationships with other social service agency staff and volunteers. The Program Assistant assists in measuring goals and impact of work done by UWPC. The Program Assistant works at Mercy Services United to assess clients and connect them with resources. Mercy Services United provides a centralized walk-in location where those in need can access a network of social services working collaboratively to empower people in overcoming barriers to their thriving. This position works on both high-level program management and direct client support. The Program Assistant represents the UWPC brand and understands his/her role in growing the reputation of the UWPC. S/he assists in building trust in United Way and its relevance in the community. The Program Assistant will work at least 3 days a week for 20-25 hours a week.

The position requires strong ability to foster relationships, stay organized, take initiative, and thrive in a variety of work. The position has a direct working relationship and a reporting relationship to the Executive Director. The position requires a flexible work schedule, availability to work some evenings and weekends, and minimal travel.

Administrative Support: Manage program calendars, schedule meetings, answer inquiries, and maintain accurate electronic and paper records.

Client & Community Interaction: Act as a first point of contact for clients, providing information on programs, screening for eligibility, and making referrals to other community resources. This includes performing client assessments at Mercy Services United and coordination with contractors for the ToRCH program.

Program Coordination: Assist in planning and executing programs, events, workshops, and outreach activities such as the Needs Based Fund, the ToRCH Environmental Modifications, Day of Action, resource fairs, and fundraisers.

Data & Reporting: Collect data for program evaluations, compile statistical reports, and assist with grant-related documentation.

Logistics & Supplies: Handle procurement of program materials, process invoices, and manage the inventory of essential supplies.

Perform other related duties as requested by the Executive Director.

Experience/Position Requirements

· Experience working in the non-profit or social service sector and interacting with volunteers.

· Demonstrated ability to build collaboration in the community at large.

· Experience in developing partnerships, building teams, and de-escalation.

· Must demonstrate intellectual curiosity with a desire to explore new ideas and innovative approaches to solving problems.

· Demonstrated experience in resource management, community relations, and event planning.

· Must have strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and experience with Unite Us or other database management.

· Excellent interpersonal communication, active listening, and the ability to work with diverse populations with empathy and patience.

· The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, while handling sensitive or confidential information with professional judgment.

· S/he has unquestioned integrity; a long term perspective; a strong sense of accountability; a practical ability to get things done; wisdom and good judgement; excellent verbal and written communication skills; a high energy level; a sense of humor; and a compassionate and thoughtful approach to clients, combined with flexibility and courage to shift direction and experiment with new initiatives.

Education Background

Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience required; Master’s degree in social work, psychology or related field is preferred.

Compensation Package

· Reimbursement for travel expenses for professional meetings and training

· Flexible work schedule within 9am-4pm Monday through Friday

· Salary range is $20-25/hr based upon experience and skills.
