After being hired by RealManage to work remotely most of the time, I expected to meet my hiring boss at some point. I never did, which showed me that a new employee had very little value. No first day lunch with the boss or the department director who were both out of the Plano office.  It seemed strange that no effort was made to meet a new employee joining the team. Other companies want you to feel welcome, so they go out of their way.  This was the first red flag.

The training process is extensive, super demanding and overwhelming.  It covers many topics and includes testing in different areas.  I completed 12 tests the first 3 weeks of employment around training, maintaining department email, meetings, going into the office some, and other related work.  One must be ready for a huge commitment of time and energy to deal with this learning process.  The training is extremely detailed, complicated and one must jump through many hoops to accomplish one single task.  RealManage has no training manuals or any sort of instructional book to follow step by step regarding the complex procedures used to set up and manage a community. It is mind boggling that a company would not streamline the training process and provide the proper tools for new hires to ensure success. Additionally, there is no consistent training program where a CiraConnect professional guides you through every step of this complicated technology. You are passed from one trainer to another who each have a full plate of responsibilities, so teaching you the CiraConnect ropes is not the top priority.  I never felt like the proper investment was being made to make sure I succeeded.  Anything is possible if the effort is being put out since everyone learns differently.  This was the next red flag. 

I expected excellent benefits, because the company expects excellence from its employees.  The medical insurance was expensive.  I learned that some employees could not afford to insure their own children and those children were living without health insurance.  One parent and a child on a PPO plan was roughly $1000 a month with a deductible and the HMO plan was roughly $800 a month with an even larger deductible.  This is a huge amount of money out of a pay check.  It was disappointing to learn and another red flag about the investment being made in the employees.  

You are required to use your personal cell phone for work, but are not reimbursed for using it.  Downloading a required app on your cell phone and using your personal phone for business related communication would justify reimbursement some sort.  Another red flag!

This company has no 401K match and the company invests nothing in the future retirement of its employees.  Another red flag!

The CAM's (Community Association Managers) are overworked, under-paid, need better benefits, and their mileage reimbursement does not cover all the vehicle expenses they have. Their jobs are hard and they are not well rewarded.  People want to see the money and benefits not have a picnic or receive compliments.  The company has ignored this complaint.  How can employees give their best to all communities when RealManage is not giving their very best back to the employees with big financial rewards, awesome PTO for rest, and great benefits? This creates turn over for the CAM's and was another red flag.

Out of the clear blue sky, a phone call from the lovely HR lady advising me that today is your last day and this person has no idea why. Your department VP and department director have said nothing to you nor have they responded to your calls/texts.  Suddenly, your work email and CiraConnect account are no longer working. You have been discarded and devalued at the drop of a hat. It was a shame that I was forced to realize how cut throat RealManage management was. 

Any boss with any honor or integrity would reach out to their employee to talk to them if there was an issue out of respect, but not at RealManage.  These are not the people you want to work for, because they will stab you in the back just like they did me. Maybe, you are learning a little bit slower than others based on your experience or you are asking questions to ensure procedures are accurate, but regardless all people deserve some sort of discussion.  You are kind and supportive of your superiors, but the same courtesy is not returned. It is a real shame, but luckily, I did not invest too much time in RealManage. I suggest you locate a company that really cares about their employees and treating them like human beings, because I was not treated with respect by my RealManage leaders.



A typical day of work included sifting through the endless daily e-mails for multiple communities assigned to your portfolio that would stack into the hundreds but were mandatorily tasked to be answered within 24 hours or write ups would occur. I learned that it's not what you know but who you know being employed here.  Management was poor with little guidance due to being overworked themselves managing their own portfolios leaving little time to train staff. During my particular stint of employment my direct supervisors were terminated leaving little to know guidance for a few months while their replacements were hired. The culture here in Colorado is predominantly woman led with emphasis on the women in power movement. The job in itself is unmanageable from any possible practical standpoint as you are tasked with managing multiple sites while continously having more and more piled on your plate. This combined with the lack of leadership, training and guidance make the atmosphere continously unneasy and stressful. The most enjoyable part of my experience was the ability to help others and make a positive impact in their lives. 

A typical day at work is similar to a lot of other companies. Tasks, emails, phone calls and once in awhile an emergency situation.
I have learned a lot on our proprietary software that is like no other I have seen. It’s amazing.
Our culture is getting better. Since we mostly work remotely it has been a challenge to stay connected with colleagues, but more work gets done and more time is spent connecting with the clients. Upper management is also amazing and provides positive energy.
The hardest part of the job is dealing with all the multiple personalities of homeowners. They do not understand what the management function is; there are rules and recorded declarations that they have abide by they agreed to this and when we tell them they cannot do something they take it out on us. We are just trying to save them from getting fined by the Board of Directors. 
Watching a project fall in place and how much it improves the structural integrity of the building or landscaping and seeing the esthetic improve. When owners can see improvements they are much happier as well. 

Manage work inbox to approve violations and invoices daily in the morning.
Managed email inbox for board members to reach out to me for their particular needs in the community.
Pulled management reports for board information.
Daily worked with vendors to accomplish projects or work needed in the community.
Held annual, board or special meetings according to the bylaws and governing documemnts.
Face to Face and phone support for all home owners. 
I learned that managing their call center was completely different.  There was never a boring moment.  There was always plenty of work to be done.  The most interesting was learning the 209 property regulations.  I never realized HOA's are serious! By the law. 
Hardest part was getting vendors to send over  estimates for the work I needed done.  We had to at least have three.  Board members never liked that either.  
The most enjoyable was building the relationship with each community board member.  I heard horror stories of some board members.  I was most definitely blessed.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The benefits are ok. The people I worked with were nice apart from upper managers. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The works load was way too large, especially for what they pay. There were too many properties (all with several needing immediate attention) , for  one manager to handle working 45 hours a week. Almost no administration help was offered.  AP was a disaster (consistently making errors we had to correct). Supervisors were unhelpful, and lacking professionalism. The turn over is double what it is at other property management companies. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The atmosphere is highly stressful. You don’t feel supported. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Everyday I would get between 10 to fifteen calls a day. On average I would have 40-70 emails along with appointments with contractors. I was often blamed for issues which I had nothing to do with (as were other managers).

The culture of this company has completely shifted to one of hierarchy and disrespect. Leadership was brought in from large competitors and they have implemented the same big box strategies that have devastated teamwork, reduced support, and ushered in poor customer service. Deja vu for those of us that came from these large, incompetently run organizations.

We continue to lose good team members, leaving the remaining team in place to absorb the additional workload. Teams are so lean that being proactive is nearly impossible. Work/life balance has become non existent and teammates are constantly working evenings, weekends and scheduled vacations to stay off the matrix radar.  All the while, there is virtually no communication from leadership and no light at the end of this tunnel.

Pros: High pay and good benefits.

Cons: 
At-Will employment translates to abuse of the term. 
Leadership and Human Resources lack integrity. 
New managers, at least in the accounting services department, are not supervised and have the power to get even senior accountants fired with no back up for "performance issues" that do not exist. No verbal warnings of "performance issues" before firing. 
Inconsistency, at least in the accounting services department, in Standard Operating Procedures.
Do not pay out PTO that is earned at termination.

This company is not a good company to work for. They do not train the accounting services department well, have a high turnover and do not supervise management well.

The company I worked for was bought out by GrandManors. This company seems to only care about warm bodies rather than genuine relationships or professional camaraderie with their employees. Several of my coworkers left because of lack of professionalism and overall demeanor of management There is a severe lack of communication. Management doesn’t care about you, only when you’re in trouble and constantly berates you. No appreciation for any of the work you do. I worried over the security of my job daily. When I was let go, I had to find out over the phone asking a non related question to HR, which NEVER responds to calls or emails btw and didn’t even give me a reason as to why I was fired. It is a stressful environment as residents will be nice to your face then email the board or your manager about you. Steer clear of this dumpster fire.


I worked for premier for a short time since I had to move out of state but I was very pleased with all the staff. They were all very friendly and professional. I was made to feel at home and like I belonged. If I move back to AZ I would definitely apply to work there again. The hours were great, my manager was caring and helpful, always able to answer any questions or provide an extra hand. She was always willing to step in when needed to help at the front desk or in other areas. She helped handle difficult homeowners and was very thankful when I helped accomplish things or was able to figure out a solution on my own to homeowner's problems. I highly recommend working there if given the chance.

A typical day at work was accomplishing bill payments, constant contact with homeowners, vendors and Board of Directors. 

I learned so much in this position. I loved working with the Board of Directors and their community. 

I rarely went into the office as I was dedicated to the community and had a home office, but when I did go in the culture was always rough. No support of the staff. 

The hardest part of the job was dealing with the constant turnaround of Director Management.  

The most enjoyable part was being able to plan community events and being able to help homeowners achieve good standing with their accounts.
